Alex Serban senior partner at Serban & Musneci Associates returned to New York this weeks as the Atlantic Council organized two major events during the UNGA week around the Global Citizens Awards: the Global Future Forum and the Transatlantic Forum on Geoeconomics. As an Atlantic Council Senior Fellow and Founding Partner at Serban & Musneci Associates, Alex joined both events as the Council honored distinguished leaders at the Global Citizen Awards gala; explored transformative ideas, forces, and people at the Global Future Forum; and convened leaders in government, business, and finance from both sides of the Atlantic at the Transatlantic Forum on GeoEconomics. https://lnkd.in/dANwnVqD

“The Global Future Forum is guided by its mission to shape the global future alongside partners and allies. During the high-level United Nations General Assembly week in New York, the Forum will bring together diverse and influential leaders to chart the way forward on the world’s defining challenges and to spotlight the people, forces, and ideas shaping the world.” Former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice spoke about the dangers of isolationism at the Global Future Forum.

The Transatlantic Forum on GeoEconomics focused on the next frontiers in Finance, Technology, and Energy. Featured keynote speakers include Ambassador of the United States to the People's Republic of China R. Nicholas Burns, Nasdaq CEO Adena Friedman, United States Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco, and Deputy National Security Advisor for International Economics Daleep Singh. The forum is organized by the Atlantic Council's GeoEconomics Center and Atlantik-Brücke, in collaboration with the Atlantic Council's Europe Center and Global Energy Center, for the first time in the United States, after Frankfurt and Berlin.

The Atlantic Council kicked off the UNGA week with a private leadership lunch on the future of the Three Seas Initiative with President Andrzej Duda. Former SACEUR General Jim Jones and former US Ambassador to Poland Georgette Mosbacher lead the discussion with CEOs, government official and private entrepreneurs evaluating future of the decade long initiative that sees cooperation in connecting the region through energy, digital and infrastructure projects. https://lnkd.in/dKXrJXpC

Later in the evening, the annual Atlantic Council hosted the Global Citizen Awards - dubbed by POLITICO “the hottest ticket in town” - which saw awardees receive the renowned recognition from distinguished personalities: Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni was introduced by SpaceX’s Elon Musk and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis by Pfizer’s Albert Bourla. Also on stage were Ghana’s President HE Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and renowned K-Pop promoter and influential film producers and promoter of homegrown talent in South Korea, Miky Lee Vice Chairman of CJ Group.

I was pleased to join Romanian energy group E-INFRA, CONCELEX, Fondul Proprietatea, AmCham Italy and AWS for a fabulous evening at the Ziegfeld Theater.

Alex Serban Senior Partner at Serban & Musneci Associates and senior fellow at Atlantic Council attended the 2024 Romanian Naval Forces Day celebration in Constanta on August 14-15 at the Romania Black Sea Fleet Command to celebrate 122 years since the founding of the Romanian Navy.

Held this year in the presence of President Klaus Iohannis and Senate President Nicolae Ionel Ciucă and distinguished international civilians and military guests, this year’s ceremony welcomed officials from allied and partner countries like the United States, Turkey and South Korea.

The vital role of the Romanian naval officers and civilian personnel in defending the waters of the Black Sea, the navigable waterways of the Danube and its Delta as well as everywhere around the world where Romania military and commercials vessels sail was celebrated in today’s ceremonies.

Romanian Naval Forces Day remembers sailors and seamen that have fallen on duty to their country, and also celebrates Romania’s seafaring traditions and commitment to securing the borders of the EU and NATO in light of the aggressive and illegal war in Ukraine and again future threats.

Roberto Musneci, Senior Partner at Şerban & Musneci Associates was invited to TVR INFO broadcast: Banii Azi. During the interview, he discussed Romania’s economic standing, shedding light on its current position and the influx of foreign investments. He also emphasized Italian investments across the country, a topic of relevance given his role as President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Romania.

“The economy is growing in Romania above the European average. If we look at what the global growth will be for the whole world, there are some studies that show a growth of 2.5 - 2.7%. In Europe one of the countries whose growth is increasing, both this year and next, is Italy. However, there is a group of countries in Central and Eastern Europe that will have growth even more. We have to be sure that the measures that will be taken will protect this’ growth capacity’, one of the main features that has attracted not only Italian investors, but also investors from other countries of the world who have invested in Romania.”, stated Roberto Musneci.

Alex Serban, președinte al Asociației Grigore Vasiliu Birlic, a fost prezent la Castelul Peleș, unde Majestatea Sa Margareta Custodele Coroanei a conferit Festivalului Internațional de Film București (BIFF) Medalia Custodele Coroanei române cu ocazia împlinirii a două decenii de la fondare.

„Pentru palmaresul impresionant al creaţiilor cinematografice aduse în faţa publicului pasionat din România şi încurajate prin premiile oferite care îmbogăţesc patrimoniul cultural al ţării noastre. Pentru că prin sistemul său de organizare contribuie la cunoaşterea autorilor, regizorilor, scenariştilor şi actorilor români pe marile ecrane din întreaga lume şi pentru punerea în valoare, în cadrul Festivalului, a unor importante capodopere ale cinematografiei clasice româneşti salvate de la uitare.” au fost cuvintele rostite de Casa Regală la acordarea decorației cu ocazia împlinirii a 20 de ani de la înființarea BIFF.

Bucharest International Film Festival (BIFF) este organizat de Fundaţia Charta şi Asociaţia Culturală Grigore Vasiliu Birlic, sub Înaltul Patronaj al Alteţei Sale Regale Principele Radu al României, realizat cu sprijinul Ministerului Culturii și în parteneriat cu Muzeul Țăranului Român, Institutul Cultural Român și numeroase ambasade și centre culturale la București.

Alex Serban, President of the Grigore Vasiliu Birlic Association, was present at Peleș Castle, where Her Majesty Margareta, the Crown Custodian, awarded the Bucharest International Film Festival (BIFF) with the Romanian Crown Custodian Medal on the occasion of its two decades of existence.

"For the impressive track record of cinematographic creations brought to passionate Romanian audiences and encouraged by the awards offered, which enrich the cultural heritage of our country. For its system of organization that contributes to the knowledge of Romanian authors, directors, scriptwriters and actors on the big screens around the world and for the highlighting, within the Festival, of important masterpieces of Romanian classic cinema saved from oblivion," were the words spoken by the Royal House when awarding the decoration on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the BIFF.

Bucharest International Film Festival (BIFF) is organized by Charta Foundation and Grigore Vasiliu Birlic Cultural Association, under the Grand Patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Radu of Romania, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and in partnership with the Romanian Rural Museum, the Romanian Cultural Institute and numerous embassies and cultural centers in Bucharest.

We are proud to announce that Roberto Musneci, Senior Partner of Serban & Musneci Associates participated in the ATOM 2023 Singapore Summit as a moderator of the plenary panel on Investing in Healthcare & Wellbeing.



“It has been a great honor to be invited to moderate one of the plenary panels of the ATOM conference on investing in healthcare and the role of AI in advancing access to sustainable innovation. The Summit took place at the National University of Singapore under the auspices of the Singapore Government.



A one hour solid debate with some of the most visionary global technology and healthcare investors and top executives.

A brief but punctual analysis of their key investment criteria and areas where we should expect major healthcare technological breakthroughs due to the applications of AI: from drug discovery to patient profiling, also including drugs and infrastructural cost optimizations.

A lively debate further explored in technical parallel sessions looking at risks, security, regulatory and cultural challenges.



The panel was encompassed in a holistic vision of healthcare, longevity and wellbeing, irrespective of regional diversities. While our panel was mainly animated by major investment funds and big data center founders and CEO’s, a core of visionary but number driven decision makers, other panels focused on longevity management, social and cultural approaches. An extraordinary blend of diverse expertise from Asia, US and Europe.



My sincere thanks go to many people who helped me prepare for this challenge, but in particular to Dr. Armen Sarkissian, 4th President of Armenia, Vartan Sarkissian and Prof Tan Eng Chye, President of the National University of Singapore who envisioned ATOM, and to the team of students at NUS who helped me organize preparatory meetings with panelists and deliver a quality interactive discussion.”

Serban&Musneci Associates was proud to part with CIPE and EBRD in organizing the networking event dedicated to community of women on boards, the presence of Bucharest Stock Exchange and Envisia.

Last year, the European Union passed a regulation requiring that firms of EU member states strive towards a new goal: that women constitute 40% of non-executive directors on the boards of publicly traded firms by 2026.

The event also celebrates the successful first edition in Romania of the online training Corporate Governance and Gender Diversity on Boards, delivered by EBRD and Deloitte with support from CIPE.

The speakers were EBRD Romania represented by Victoria Zinchuk, Monika Kociova from CIPE, Radu Hanga from Bucharest Stock Exchange, Alex Serban from Serban&Musneci Associates and Adriana Lobda from Envisia.
