⚠️ The So-Called “Amnesty Law” — A Beautifully Packaged False Hope
The real beneficiaries of this law will probably be less than 1% of the people currently staying illegally in Romania.
Please understand the reality before you spend money, take risks, or believe false promises.
1️⃣ Only people who originally entered Romania LEGALLY based on a WORK PERMIT are potentially eligible.
2️⃣ Only those from point 1 who DO NOT already have a RETURN DECISION issued in their name may qualify.
Even if you do not know about it, if you have been illegal for several months, there is a very high chance that a return decision already exists in the system.
How can you check?• Free: through OIM or CRJ• Paid: through a lawyer specialized in immigration law
Average response time: around 30 days.
3️⃣ People who entered Romania for OTHER purposes are NOT eligible:• tourist visa• student visa• seasonal work• family reunification• illegal entryetc.
If you go to IGI “in good faith” to declare your address, you risk being detained and deported directly from the immigration office.
4️⃣ According to the new law, people have ONLY 60 days starting from April 27 to present themselves to any IGI office and be registered in the system.
5️⃣ Before December 31, you MUST become legal through:• an authorized agencyAND• an employer that fulfills the new legal conditions.
In reality, because the legislation is still unclear and the financial guarantees are very high, very few agencies will take this risk. Very few employers will qualify as well.
6️⃣ Even if you find a serious agency and a trustworthy employer, your profession may NOT be included on the shortage occupation list issued by AJOFM, meaning legalization may still be impossible.
7️⃣ In reality, maybe only 1% of illegal foreigners will successfully become legal in Romania through this process.
8️⃣ Those who already LEFT Romania — especially people registered in another country through asylum, refugee procedures, fingerprints, or other migration records — have ZERO chances of becoming legal again in Romania.
Please stop giving money to people promising “guaranteed legalization.”IT DOES NOT EXIST.
9️⃣ Although employer changes are currently theoretically allowed until August 7, state institutions themselves do not fully understand the new legislation, making it almost impossible to obtain the necessary documents for employer change procedures.
🔟 New work permit applications submitted online or physically starting from April 27 are already being rejected — or not even accepted physically by IGI — because there is currently no clear legal framework for processing them.
These are only some of the serious issues we wanted to highlight.
I understand many of you are desperate and simply want to be legal in the country you chose to come to. Unfortunately, the reality is far from optimistic.
Those who are not deported immediately may face mass deportations after January 1, 2027 — because once you declare your address, IGI already knows where to find you.
The decision is yours.
May God protect all of us. Stay safe and be blessed.
