🌟 Meet the Star of Episode 6 in our Let’s Meet the Team Series! We're featuring an exceptional member of our Project Management team, who's here to share their expertise and insights. 🚀
Q: What advice would you give to someone considering a career in your field, especially at a young age? Any tips for succeeding in this field?
A: Project Management is more than a career, in my opinion, it's a skill set for life. One should definitely study it, look for a suitable job opportunity, try to find a coach or a mentor, and then work towards building a career in Project Management. However, I would go even further: study Project Management even if you don't want to build a career in it. The Know-How it provides will help you quite a lot in your day-to-day life. Don't take my word for it; give it a try.
Regarding tips for building a career in Project Management, I would encourage people to not neglect their soft skills. Good projects rely on professional people, but great outcomes rely on professionals who go that extra mile.
Q: Can you share an example of a challenging situation you encountered during a project and how you and your team successfully resolved it?
A: Working in remote environments, issues can very quickly build up into problems of scale. This is why it's vital that teams work on early and continuous communication. For me, communication does not resume to a mere transfer of information, but make sure, the message is actually understood and will be conveyed into action. A successful communication is always a two-way street. This is how, in my opinion, teams can successfully overcome challenges both remotely and onsite.
Q: What's your go-to stress-busting activity after a particularly intense project, and why does it work for you?
A: If the project is successfully delivered, I just rejoice in the outcome and all hardship is forgotten. On the other hand, if it has not been satisfactory, I tend to go back and analyze what went wrong. Knowing that I learn something valuable from that experience so that I will hopefully prevent it from happening another time, helps me make my peace with it.
Within projects, intense days, or phases - I try to end the day with some kind of activity that helps me disconnect. This tends to help me clear my head and next day tackle the issues from a more efficient perspective.
Q: What was your best experience at Q_PERIOR so far?
A: It was last year’s visit to the Munich Office - the Q_and Me Event included - when I realized that I was at home, with like-minded people.😊
