Reciclarea reprezintă acțiunea de a transforma materiale uzate în produse noi, în timp ce colectarea separată înseamnă separarea materialelor înainte ca acestea să fie reciclate.
Producția textilelor consumă resurse prețioase precum apa și energia electrică. De aceea, e recomandat să achiziționăm doar piese vestimentare de care avem într-adevăr nevoie, să luăm în considerare cumpărăturile la magazine second hand și să prelungim viața hainelor pe care le avem deja. Înainte de a renunța la un articol, repară-l: coase-l, schimbă fermoarul etc. Poți de asemenea să îl transformi în altceva: un așternut de pat vechi poate fi tăiat în bucăți pentru a obține cârpe de curățenie. Fibrele de poliester pot deveni haine noi, în timp ce bumbacul poate fi reciclat pentru covoare, umpluturi sau izolații.
