Need a medical certificate for a driving licence in Romania?
The full medical fitness certificate is issued by an authorised medical centre, not by the family doctor alone.
Before the examination, you will normally need a certificate from your family doctor mentioning any chronic conditions you are registered with.
At the authorised centre, the required medical checks are completed and the final fitness certificate for driving is issued.
Before booking, check:
• whether the centre is authorised for driving licence examinations
• which documents you need to bring
• whether psychological evaluation is arranged separately
• the total price
• how long the process usually takes
If you need help finding an authorised centre, checking the requirements or arranging an appointment, feel free to send a message.

A small note for expats who are new to Romania and need to book a medical appointment.

From what I’ve seen, the private healthcare system is usually easier to navigate than the public one, especially if you don’t speak Romanian.

Before booking, it helps to check a few things:

• what type of specialist you need
• whether the clinic has English-speaking doctors
• the consultation price
• what documents or previous medical results you should bring
• whether your insurance can be used or if you need to pay directly

Also, don’t assume that reception staff will always speak English. Sometimes the doctor does, but the front desk doesn’t, and that can make the process stressful.

If the situation is urgent, call emergency services or go to the nearest emergency department.

My focus is on the practical side of the process: coordination, communication and helping expats understand the next steps.

If you need help finding options, booking an appointment or communicating with a clinic, feel free to send a message.

Hope this helps.
