the VI TEKHNODREV Siberia International Specialized Exhibition
Technology, machines, equipment and tools for logging, woodworking and furniture industry

On September 11-14, 2012, Krasnoyarsk saw the largest timber-industry exhibition of Siberia and one of main industrial shows of the Russian forestry sector, the VI TEKHNODREV Siberia International Specialized Exhibition.
The Tekhnodrev Siberia Exhibition is an integral part of the TEKHNODREV all-Russian network of timber-industry exhibitions organised by RESTEC® Exhibition Company. The network events take place in the main timber-industry regions of Russia (Krasnoyarsk, Khabarovsk, St Petersburg), familiarising specialists with high technologies and equipment for woodworking and furniture industry; timber cutting, warehousing and transportation; production and use of biofuel.
Over the period of its existence, the scale of the Tekhnodrev Siberia Exhibition has essentially increased: while the first exposition held in 2007 gathered slightly more than 70 companies, the 2012 exhibition had as many as 165.
The exhibition was attended by companies from 17 foreign countries (Austria, Germany, Italy, China, the USA, Slovenia, Taiwan, Turkey, Finland, Japan, Latvia, Estonia, Sweden, Belarus etc.), as well as different regions of Russia (Moscow, St Petersburg, Nizhniy Novgorod, Velikiy Novgorod, Kirov, Irkutsk, Perm, Pskov, Rubtsovsk, Chelyabinsk, the Republic of Adygea, Barnaul and other regions, Krasnoyarsk and Krasnoyarsk kray/region). The exposition occupied three exhibition halls of about 11,000 sq.m total area.
The visitors' interest to the event has considerably grown – the 2012 number has reached 10,000 people (together with the Furniture: Equipment. Fittings. Design Exhibition and the Furniture and Interiors Fair). The visitors' geography has considerably expanded, too: the exhibition was attended by specialists from 7 foreign countries (Germany, Finland, China, Sweden, Tajikistan, Estonia, Great Britain), 17 regions of Russia and the Siberian Federal District (from Moscow to Khabarovsk), as well as 18 cities and 22 rayons/sectors of Krasnoyarsk kray/region. The decision to hold the exhibition on the eve of the professional holiday, the Forester's Day, since 2011 became an additional incentive to take part in the exhibition and events of the business programme, an efficient demonstration of achievements and technologies.
The essential growth of the Tekhnodrev Siberia Project has been noticed by both organisers, exhibitors and visitors. At the official ceremony of opening of the exhibition, the Chairman of the Central Siberian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Nikolay Khudykh mentioned that for the region inhabitants, forest is "not only an inhabitancy, but also a business environment. That is why the number of participants of the exhibition is going up, and business is becoming more active. We are at a crucial stage as Russia has joined the WTO. I think that this fact cannot but push us to occupy niches in international trade and achieve success».
In her turn, the Economic Attache of the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Novosibirsk Jutta Held emphasised the importance of the Krasnoyarsk exhibition by the fact that the number of German corporate participants had considerably increased this year.
Successful and dynamical development of the project is stipulated by such factors as efficient partnership and leadership of Krasnoyarsk kray in the forest and merchantable wood stock amount. The Government of the Russian Federation, as well as the Government of the Kray set the objective to increase the timber conversion volume and labour productivity in the forestry sector and competitiveness of the Russian forest products. That is why the region needs new technologies and equipment enabling not only to log and haul roundwood, but also manufacture finished products. This objective is becoming especially pressing now, when Russia joined the WTO and the domestic forestry sector entered the global market.
From year to year, the exposition of equipment in operation and special machinery has been expanding. In particular, this year, special woodworking machinery was demonstrated on 6,000 sq.m of open exhibition area. It was here that one could see log haulage trucks by Enisey-M, specialised tree-removal machines and the Russian favourite biserial grubber used to prepare soil to natural reforestation by EcoWood etc.
Not only did many exhibitors demonstrate their equipment samples or catalogues but they visually presented operation of their machines and tools. For example, DKP-6 Strojcad Sawing Machine (Slovakia) presented in operation caused much admiration. Woodworkers were particularly interested in Nortec four cutters. That was what Negotsiant-Engineering Sales Department Manager Mikhail Fedotov, Moscow, said:
«It has not been for the first time that our company is taking part in the Tekhnodrev Siberia Exhibition. This year, we have kept our promise and brought the Strojcad Sawing Machine, which we demonstrate in operation. It is a stock gang for small- and medium-size enterprises. The advantage of this machine tool is that it produces an edged board in one pass. The stock gang disposes of the necessity to have a re-saw frame, saves space, reduces power consumption and the number of workers. Our central goal is to find new customers, demonstrate the equipment and certainly improve sales. I can say that demonstration of equipment in operation done this year improved the result ten times as compared with the last-year one. We promise to bring one more novelty next time; after all, the exhibition skyrockets our sales».
The topic was supported by Lyudmila Silchenko, Director of Pilex LLC, Krasnoyarsk: "Pilex has been taking part in the Krasnoyarsk Fair exhibitions since 2002. We do our best to show something new every year. This time, it is the Wood-Mizer LT20B sawmill of very high quality. Its lifetime is 18-20 years. Our central goal is to introduce this novelty to our present and future customers. I can note that the visitors' interest to our bench is very high. The main reason is that we demonstrate the sawmill in operation. Next year, we are sure to take part in the Tekhnodrev Siberia Exhibition again. We have already prepared some equipment samples that were not presented here yet».
The regular participants of the exhibition include AKE, Germany/Russia; USTUNKARLI, Turkey; Heinola, Estonia; John Deere, USA; Spanevello SRL, Italy; Springer Maschinenfabrik AG, Austria; Suzuko Co., Japan; Valmet Komatsu Forest, Sweden/USA; VDMA, Germany; USNR, USA; CJSC Lifting Machines, Krasnoyarsk, Russia; KAMI Corporation, Moscow, Russia etc. The high-scale exposition of the exhibition corresponds to the business programme traditionally gathering specialists from all over Russia to discuss the forestry-industry pressing problems.
The Tekhnodrev Siberia 2012 Exhibition Programme includes such events as the round table Development of the Forest Industry in the Region: Key Factors of Success organised together with the Forestry Agency of Krasnoyarsk kray/region; the workshop Efficient Sawmilling. Equipment Manufacturers' Recommendations organised together with LesPromInform Magazine; the research-and-production workshop Low-Quality Wood and Waste Recovery Technologies and Equipment and the practical online conference Focus on the Essence: the Way to Increase Profit.
Additional chances to promote the products and technologies of corporate participants were given by the official newspaper of the exhibition, LespromFORUM, distributed among the visitors of the exhibition, participants of the business programme and on the website of the exhibition. The newspaper publishes novelties of technologies and equipment shown on the exhibitors' benches, covers the congress events, lists the participants, provides the layout of pavilions etc.
The Tekhnodrev Siberia Exhibition receives information support from the Forest Club, an industrial interactive timber-merchants' portal.
By the results of the exhibition, active participants were awarded Diplomas and Letters of Thanks. Nine companies became medallists. They were
