On Saturday, 10 October 2026, RE-BANATEX LTD welcomed Dr. Antonia Strachey, Fashion Lead at the British High Commission, and her team to our facility.

The visit was an opportunity to discuss Rwanda’s growing fashion movement, the challenges designers face in accessing locally available raw materials, and the opportunities for innovative materials such as banana-fiber and cotton fabric to support the industry.

We also shared the RE-BANATEX journey, from early research and development to our vision of transforming agricultural banana stem waste into sustainable textile materials for fashion, accessories, and other creative products.

As Rwanda’s fashion industry continues to grow, we believe locally developed materials can help bridge the gap between designers’ creativity and access to sustainable raw materials.
