There are a few important things to keep in mind to strengthen a steel warehouse. ✅

1. Foundation

Use a deep and strong concrete foundation.

The steel columns should be bolted/anchored well to the foundation.

2. Steel quality and thickness

Use high grade steel (ASTM / JIS standard).

The thickness of the column and the size of the beam should be determined according to the load.

3. Connection

Use welding + high tensile bolts.

Use double bolts or additional plates at the points where the load will be higher.

4. Bracing System

Use cross bracing (X-shaped steel rods) on the sidewalls and roof.

Bracing will help the structure withstand wind, earthquake, and storm pressure.

5. Roof & Wall Sheet

Use high quality corrugated steel sheet or sandwich panel.

Waterproof sealant should be used on the sheet joints.

6. Load Calculation

Live load (weight of people and goods)

Dead load (weight of steel and sheeting)

Wind load and Seismic load — these should be calculated and the structure should be designed according to the engineer.

7. Extra Strengthening

Stiffener plates can be used in columns.

You can use double beams in heavy areas.

The steel will be durable if you give it color/anti-rust coating.
