Yesterday was a huge step forward for our Human Centred Leadership movement.

We took the conversation to the House of Lords, where we held the event with the specific theme of 'Equipping Our Future Leaders With EQ'.

We discussed the changing global approach to leadership and the need to develop relationship skills.

I was very proud of our young leaders, each of whom I have had the great honour of coaching for their first-ever public talks, and each knocked it out of the park. Well done to you all!!👏

I got to have so many incredible, inspired conversations, meeting many people for the first time in person, whilst others have already become firm friends.

A very special mention, though, to Baroness Garden of Frognal for supporting our event. What an incredibly inspirational person she is.

Finally, none of this would be possible without the incredible and unending support of my beautiful wife, Taj Mahay, who, without doubt, is the best time-keeper out there.

This weekend, it's all about rest and pinching ourselves wondering how we managed this lol.

I've seen enough workplace fads to write a book about (in fact, there's a great book idea right there).

One of the most talked-about issues in my conversations with leaders is workplace well-being.

It's a cold, frosty early start but I'm excited! 😀

Today, I'm heading to Worcester to spend the day with one of our Executive Team clients.

We have been working together for nearly a year to build emotional intelligence and cohesion to enhance team performance in a highly demanding, performance and safety-driven organisation.

Today will be a true test of whether the team can apply these skills in crisis scenarios.

I have a couple of great simulated exercises prepared, and I am really looking forward to it.

It's been a fantastic day today for me as I was part of a panel at the National Police Chiefs'​ Council and Association of Police and Crime Commissioners Summit in London.

To share the panel with some outstanding leaders, such as Nick Rhodes OBE, QPM, Director of Oscar Kilo UK, Nick Smart, PSA President, Professor Sarah Charman was a true honour.

The session was expertly chaired by, Matthew Scott, Kent Police and Crime Commissioner.

Thank you to Emma Knipe for organising it all.

In discussing police leadership for the modern era, building cultures of belonging, I was so pleased to note the positive acceptance of our work around Human Centred Leadership and

For so many years, I pushed the importance of emotional intelligence in the police service but to see everyone talking about as a business critical skillset, it genuinely warmed my heart.

I hope I can work with the UK police service to build into the culture to create human centric leaders going forward.

This session could easily have gone on for several hours.

I got through some podcasts on my long drive to the awesome QEII Centre, so I feel like it's been a 'win all round' kind of day.

We are living through fairly unique times where authoritarianism seems to be the norm in leadership thinking, particularly in global politics.

However, what is the longevity of this style of leadership thinking?

In this week's episode, I ponder where we are going in terms of leadership thinking and whether 'strongman leadership' is here to stay or a temporary blip in our evolutionary journey.

Today, a simple thread reminded me of one of leadership's greatest lessons.

Today is Raksha Bandhan – a celebration of bonds, trust, and responsibility.

It's one of my favourite days of the year.

In many Indian households, today is Raksha Bandhan, a tradition where sisters tie a rakhi on their brothers’ wrists, symbolising love, protection, and a lifelong commitment to stand by each other.

It’s a beautiful reminder that relationships, whether personal or professional, thrive on mutual care.

My 3 sisters know only too well how insistent I can be that they send me rakhis (the threads) on time every year. I say the same thing every year too, "please make sure they are simple threads cause they stay on way longer than any others".

This year, I was blessed to have some 'adopted' sisters add to my rakhis (one who recently lost her only brother).

In leadership, we don’t tie a thread around someone’s wrist, but we do make silent commitments:

I will look out for you.

I will create a safe space for you to grow.

I will stand by you when things get tough.

And just like with Raksha Bandhan, these commitments are reciprocal. The best teams are built on a two-way promise.

Leaders protect and empower their people, and in return, their people protect and champion the vision.

This tradition teaches us that trust is not given once; it’s renewed continually through actions, empathy, and shared purpose.

So, on this Raksha Bandhan, my leadership takeaway is simple:

Leadership is less about titles and more about the invisible threads of trust we weave every day.

If we nurture those threads, they become unbreakable.

Happy Raksha Bandhan to all who celebrate and here’s to strengthening the bonds that make leadership truly human-centred.

"Mum, I'm going to be on TV!"

The first and only time I've ever said that to my mum was in January 1983 when I first joined the police service and Central TV came to interview me on a special.

I remember she was watching a Bollywood movie when the programme aired and got so excited that she just pressed 'record' to capture my moment straight over pay of her favourite film.

I'm very lucky to have appeared on a few TV programmes since but my mum passed away 21 years ago and, of course, I miss her incredibly to this day.

She was my biggest supporter.

If she were alive today, she'd be incredibly excited to hear that I'm going to be on TV again today.

I'm not sure how she would 'record' the moment but I suspect she'd probably sit there recording the whole thing on a smart phone.

If you are reading this mum, I'm on TV joining the wonderful Jon Bentley on 'Shop Smart, Save Money' as we explore doorbell video camera technology on Channel 5 at 8pm.
