🔸🔸 Brief Bio
Ibrahim Abdelrahman Shaddad is a Sudanese geologist, diplomat and multidisciplinary scholar with extensive experience in geology, mineral resource development and mining across both public and private sectors. His expertise includes lithology, structural geology, metallogeny, and remote sensing applications. He has contributed to numerous technical reports and scientific studies on Sudan’s geology. He is an accomplished geologist and a distinguished polymath whose interests span writing, Sufism,travel,photography, and wildlife conservation. He is also an active advocate for Ethio-Sudanese solidarity.
He previously held key roles at the Geological Research Authority of Sudan (GRAS) under the Ministry of Minerals and later worked as a consultant in mineral resources development and management. He has also demonstrated strong leadership in environmental advocacy, serving as President of the Blue Nile State Environmental Preservation Committee. He is also a proponent of “geology without borders,” promoting institutional collaboration and transboundary geological initiatives across Africa.
Since 2015, he has served as Director General of the African Minerals and Geosciences
Centre (AMGC) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He is a life member of the Geological Society of Africa (GSAf) and an advisory board member of major international initiatives, including the EU-supported PanAfGeo Projects and the AfricaMaVal Project, focusing on capacity building and sustainable raw materials development across Africa. In addition to his scientific and administrative work, he actively promotes knowledge exchange and collaboration through innovative digital platforms connecting African geoscientists.
