Paul van der Loo, Product Manager at VDL Container Systems: “Two-position or three-position buttons cause hydraulic systems to shock, potentially leading to unpredictable movement and ultimately accidents. Tele Radio’s T14-07 and T15-07 allow us to control our systems with high precision and proportionality.”

Strong Machines: “Tele Radio are more than a supplier – they are a strategic partner”

When lifting loads with two overhead cranes working in tandem, there’s no room for error. For Strong Machines, a Brazilian manufacturer based in the country’s southernmost province, this is a daily reality. “Our partnership with Tele Radio allows us to monitor our tandem operations at all times.”

Tandem crane operations present risks. Cranes operating in parallel must move in perfect unison. When handling long or heavy loads, even small misalignments can cause dangerous tension imbalances or equipment damage.

Strong Machines, which is located in Caxias do Sul, in the south of Brazil, needed wireless control that would give operators complete freedom of movement, without compromising precision.

Smooth, accurate load handling with Tele Radio Tiger

Tele Radio’s Tiger system addresses these challenges. Its proportional controls let operators adjust movement speed by varying the pressure applied to control buttons – essential for smooth, accurate load handling. The emergency stop, which is PLd/SIL3-certified, instantly halts operations when triggered.

In tandem mode, a single transmitter controls both cranes simultaneously. Cranes move forward, backward, or sideways in perfect unison. Operators switch between individual and synchronized control depending on the task at hand.

Markus Grallert, Director at Strong Machines: “Tele Radio proved more than a supplier – they became a strategic partner that understands our challenges, supports us with training, and delivers a solution that perfectly matches our product.”

On-site training and ongoing technical support

Strong Machines chose Tele Radio for reasons beyond hardware. Installation was completed quickly and with minimal disruption – essential for maintaining production schedules. In addition, Tele Radio provided on-site training and ongoing technical support, ensuring the Strong Machines team could operate the system effectively from day one.

VDL Container Systems manufacture container handling systems and rely on Tele Radio for securely connected remote controls.

Paul van der Loo, Product Manager at VDL Container Systems, collaborates with customers facing the potential of accidents daily. “Operators gain perspective on their surroundings when using a remote control. They can distance themselves from the intense heat of an industrial oven or a precariously balanced offloading truck. Safety fundamentally lies in the connection between transmitter and receiver – if this connection breaks, control is lost.”

“VDL Container Systems and Tele Radio began collaborating,” Van der Loo recalls, “when customers began voicing the dangers they face on the work floor. Imagine transporting a load of molten metal, an offloading garbage truck that tips backward to the point it could turn over, or an inner-city delivery amidst bustling traffic. Tele Radio provides end-users with the ability to take a step back and gain an overview of the situation they’re working in.”

VDL Container Systems opted specifically for Tele Radio’s T14-7 & T15-7 wireless remote controls, which belong to the TIGER line. Van der Loo: “Their proportional controls make them best in class in combination with our hydraulic systems.”

Proportionality is important to VDL Container Systems. Two-position or three-position buttons cause hydraulic systems to shock, potentially leading to unpredictable movement and ultimately accidents. “Operators require precise control,” says Van der Loo. “Tele Radio provides both the connection and precision we require.”

He concludes: “Our systems get exposed to harsh conditions in industries such as mining, agriculture, and construction, as well as extremely cold weather in the north of Europe and extremely hot temperatures in the south. Tele Radio guarantees a reliable connection between transmitter and receiver, regardless of the circumstances.”

Safe lifting starts with the right remote control.
At Tele Radio, we understand how crucial safety is during lifting and hoisting operations in industrial environments. That’s why put great effort into making our wireless remote controls even safer and more reliable.
Several of our systems are certified to meet the highest safety standards, including ISO 13849-1 CAT3 PLd / PLe SIL3 level for the STOP function.
Whether you're handling heavy loads or complex hoisting tasks — our technology gives you peace of mind.

We support the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA), the force behind GLAD. Today at 12:00 CEST, LEEA will host a special webinar launching an exclusive industry report that highlights the most pressing issues related to skills shortages, skills gaps, and recruitment across the lifting sector.
