Today, Volta Greentech announces an 18 million SEK investment round led by the Axel Johnson Group.

This milestone brings our total funding to over 100 million SEK, money that we invest in R&D to design breakthrough solutions for reducing methane emissions from cows and farming.

After many years of intensive R&D, we are working on finalizing the regulatory application for market approvals of our next-generation feed additive Lome®.

With Lome®, we have developed a feed additives that gently suppress methane-producing microbes in the rumen of cows, reducing emissions at their source while preserving valuable feed energy creating a win-win for farmers and climate.

The road to a scalable solution has been long. Building on our work with algae, we have developed Lome® to replicate the specific methane-reducing properties of algae in a more precise and highly scalable form.

Scalable Production: Moving beyond the challenges of large-scale algae cultivation, Lome® enables a resource-efficient production process built to meet global market demand.
Farmer-First Design: Lome® fits seamlessly into existing farm routines and comes premixed in feed
Climate ROI: Beyond reducing methane emissions, Lome® also optimizes feed energy, providing a return on investment that is among the most competitive in agriculture

A Long-Term Partnership
We are proud to have the continued backing of Axel Johnson. Their deep roots in the food industry and long-term vision makes them a great long-term partner as we finalize our path toward a broad European rollout.

A huge thank you to all our partners and investors for our shared ambition to drive innovation toward a more sustainable food system.

Innovation is rarely a straight line. Sometimes it means rethinking everything to make a bigger impact.
In the early days of Volta Greentech, we were growing what felt like a magical algae in our lab.

This tiny organism had something remarkable: the ability to significantly reduce methane emissions from cows. Trial after trial showed promising results. It was the beginning of something big.

Scaling it, however, was another story. We spent years exploring how to grow the algae efficiently at large scale. It was exciting, challenging and ultimately clear that it would require too many resources to make the impact we envisioned.

So we went back to the lab.

Instead of growing the algae, we focused on understanding it. What made it so great? Could we replicate its methane-reducing properties in a smarter, more resource-efficient way?
Years of research later, that question led us to our new product Lome®.

A more precise, efficient, and reliable feed additive designed to reduce methane at its source while preserving valuable feed energy, produced through a more sustainable and scalable process.

Thank you for being part of the journey to battle global warming. We are excited to soon share what’s coming next.

We often talk about methane reduction as a climate problem.

Dr. Leluo Guan reminds us it’s also a biology problem — and an opportunity.

By understanding the microbes inside the cow, her team is helping farmers turn lost energy into productivity, while cutting emissions where they actually form.

As Dr. Guan puts it:
“We’re pushing forward innovative biotech solutions to fine-tune the microbes in a cow’s stomach so less methane is produced and more energy is available for animal growth. That’s a win for farmers, consumers, and the climate.”

Now, backed by $7.9 million in federal funding, their research is accelerating.

This is the kind of science we believe in.

If you’re feeling frustrated about climate change this Sunday evening, you’re not alone.

Have you read WWF’s latest Climate Barometer in Sweden?

It offers a relatable picture of how people actually feel right now:
● 50% say climate change is the global issue that worries them the most
● 65% think politicians should do more to address it
● 80% would buy more sustainable food if it were cheaper

When asked who carries the greatest responsibility:
● Politics: 51%
● Companies: 20%
● Individuals: 9%

How do we think about this poll?

Most people want to do the right thing in their everyday lives. Individual choices matter. But it’s also hard to know which actions make a difference, and even harder to feel that personal decisions alone can change the bigger picture. When there is a cheaper option, most people tend to take it.

Many have probably come to accept that, as individual consumers, we can’t always keep our attention on consuming what is best for nature and the climate. That’s likely why people place their trust primarily in politicians, and increasingly in companies, to drive meaningful, large-scale change.

We will get back to work tomorrow with energy, focused on helping turn this shared concern into real progress.

As we work with full focus and determination toward the commercial launch of our next-generation feed additive, Lome®, we are proud to share a milestone along the way.

In 2025 we delivered more than 500 tonnes of CO2e reductions to customers in Sweden using methane-reducing feed additive Bovaer.

A big thank you to everyone who contributed to this achievement, and especially to the customers who are pushing for innovation in agriculture to help meet ambitious climate targets.

To put this milestone into perspective, we ran the numbers to add some context on the impact ↓

The UK takes a major step for climate and farming!

The UK Government has launched the UK Methane Action Plan, a landmark initiative to cut methane emissions across sectors, and importantly, to support farmers in doing so.

Methane is one of the most powerful greenhouse gases, but this plan goes beyond emissions, it’s about building a profitable, resilient, and sustainable farming sector.
“A profitable farming sector, good rural jobs and food security are essential pillars of a healthy and resilient economy. The long-term sustainability and productivity of agriculture relies on mitigating the worst impacts of climate change… This is why we are taking action to support farming to reduce emissions and make space for nature.”

For the first time, the UK Government has recognised methane-reducing feed additives as a key tool to lower agricultural methane emissions:

“We will look to develop a mature market with a range of trusted MSFP products to support farmers… backed up by a mandate for the use of proven safe and effective products in England as soon as feasibly possible, and by 2030 at the latest.”

At Volta Greentech, we’re proud to be part of this movement. Our research collaborations with UK universities are focused on developing our product Lome®, a proven solutions that make methane reduction practical, profitable, and positive for farmers.

With this plan, the UK shows that climate leadership and farming success go hand in hand.
