As we head into the summer break, we would like to take a moment to thank everyone who contributes to the growth and development of the Gothenburg region.

Over the past months, we have worked together with companies, investors, universities, public organisations and partners on initiatives within areas such as AI, life science, sustainable development, talent attraction and international investment.

But behind every project, partnership and achievement are people.

People with knowledge, commitment and a shared ambition to make the Gothenburg region an even better place to invest, innovate, grow and live.

Thank you to all colleagues, partners, companies and organisations we have the privilege to work with. And thanks to you for following us on social media!

We wish you a relaxing and enjoyable summer ☀️🌍

Stephanie Reimann Izhak, head of innovation as a service at Volkswagen, was recently in Gothenburg for the automotive tech conference VECS.

At our pre-event on 4 May, she shared her impressions of Gothenburg and Sweden following a day of visits to several key ecosystem players, including Lindholmen Science Park, mobilityXlab and Business Region Göteborg. She also met with a few local tech companies within mobility.

“I love especially how Sweden has built the ecosystems, to bring together corporates, universities and accelerators together with the startup scene,” she said.

Her two-day visit programme was organised by Business Sweden, our national partner.

⚓ Permanent home planned for Gothenburg’s iconic ship

Greencarrier and the City of Gothenburg have agreed on an ambition to create a long-term home for the Götheborg of Sweden, in central Gothenburg.

For decades, the Götheborg of Sweden has been a powerful symbol of Gothenburg’s history as a city of trade and shipping.

Greencarrier, which owns the ship, plans to develop an experience centre around the ship, which could generate significant tourism-related benefits for the city. The facility would also serve as Greencarrier’s new headquarters and include office space for external actors.

The aim is to open the new visitor destination in 2031.
