Associate professor Tore Eliasson is currently senior physician and medically responsible officer at the Pain Center at Angereds Community Hospital (Angereds närsjukhus) in Gothenburg, Sweden. He has authored and co-authored several articles in international peer-reviewed journals and book chapters, and has given a large amount of poster presentations. Dr Eliasson finalized his basic medical education in 1985. He became a specialist in general internal medicine (1991), cardiovascular diseases and cardiology (1995), and in pain alleviation (1997). His PhD thesis, entitled Spinal Cord Stimulation in Angina Pectoris, was finalized in 1994. Between 1998–2008, he worked as a Senior Consultant at the Internal Medicine Clinic of the Sahlgrenska Hospital. He was Senior Consultant at the Pain Unit of the Hospital of Mölndal between 2005–2008. Since 2006 he is Senior Consultant and the medically responsible officer of the Competence Center for Chronic Pain at the Primary Care, Varberg. Durng 2008-2012, he was the head and creator of the Pain Center at the Angereds Community Hospital (Angereds närsjukhus). He now serves as senior consultant and medically responsible officer at the same institution. Tore Eliasson has formerly been secretary of the Study Group on Refractory Angina Pectoris of the European Society of Cardiology, and has held former positions as the secretary of the Swedish Association of Pain Physicians, and the scientific secretary in the Swedish Pain Forum. He is also member of advisory boards of different pharmaceutical companies. He is currently the scientific editor of “Framingham on Neuropathic Pain”. He has been investigator in randomized clinical trials. Tore Eliasson is trained in leadership and pedagogy. His research previously focused on the role, function and involvement of the spinal cord in association with pain and angina pectoris. At present, his main interest lies in the field of long-term pain with focus on clinical, practical strategies, the connection of su***de vs pain, the role of personality disorders in the context of long-term pain conditions and long-term pain conditions in children and adolescents.
