I think that the Lancaster was my second Airfix kit I built as a kid. How many of us has Airfix inspired on our journey into aviation? I’ve returned the favour as here’s one of my photos of the Lancaster, on an Airfix post regarding Lancaster The Feature Documentary which received 5 stars today in a review. Congratulations to all the Lancaster team.
The film has a limited release so make sure you catch it while you can.

During the war, Lancasters flew over 156,000 raids and over 55,550 young men lost their lives.

Today we are honoured to be attending the first preview of Lancaster The Feature Documentary, told through the words of the veterans, who bravely fought for our freedom.

With stunning footage of the last two remaining airbourne Lancasters and incredble tales from the surviving crew, find out more about Lancaster here: www.altitude.film!

Excited to share the trailer for the ‘Lancaster – The Feature Documentary’ which is being released in the UK on May 27th.

We were grateful to work with the team that created 'Spitfire' again. For 'Lancaster' we produced and filmed the aerial sequences; one of many projects that have been keeping us busy.

I developed bespoke camera systems for both fixed wing and rotary aerial platforms. It was important to me that the flying Lancaster scenes were authentic to veteran experiences so I also came up with a day for night shooting process that gives the appearance that the Lancaster is actually flying at night.

The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (Official) were outstanding in their support.

To recreate the scene of a Lancaster launching at twilight is truly one of the highlights of my career.

SAAB’s ‘supersonic biplane’, the Viggen, is one of my favourite aircraft of all time. Captured here shortly before retirement, flying from the Flygvapnet F4 base at Ostersund, these Viggens gulp down huge amounts of cold morning air and roar across the snow-covered Swedish landscape as if sniffing out their prey. It truly was an honour to fly with them.

Today marks the 79th Anniversary of Flt Lt John Gillespie Magee's death. He wrote the poem 'High Flight' which is arguably the most famous poem about flight ever written. I do not think I have ever met an aviator that does not know at least part of it, and on a perfect day of flying it is hard to imagine better words than his to describe the experience. ⁣

John died flying a Spitfire Mk V, at the age of 19, in a flying accident that took the life of another pilot, Ernest Aubrey near the RAF College at Cranwell. A simple RAF gravestone marks the end of John's tragically short life at Scopwick Cemetery, Lincolnshire, but his experiences and thoughts live on through the beauty of his words.⁣

Here Anglia Aircraft Restoration's Spitfire Mk V EE602, reenacts the opening line of JGM's poem, and 'slips the surly bonds of Earth........'⁣

December 7 - on this day in 1941 the surprise attack against the United States at Pearl Harbor and Hawai’i led to a second World War.

The horrific destruction of the battleship USS Arizona was documented at the time and became a symbol of both the attack itself and, in a broader context, that entire period of history.

The sunken warship is now a monument to those that fell on that day, and there is an eerie calm to the same place where such violence was wrought, early one December morning.

Here, an Arizona Air National Guard F-16 overflies the sunken hull with 900 of the 1,177 souls lost that day still entombed in the ship.

The ‘Arizona’ is a designated war grave, and this sobering image shows those serving today paying tribute to those that served before and who paid the ultimate price.

Thanks to Miss Helen P51 for sharing one of my bluenoser photos.

The Bluenosers had many of WW2's greatest Aces amongst their ranks. Hence why so many owners paint their preserved P-51s today to represent the fighters that would have flown alongside our Miss Helen during the war years. ⁣

Kermit Weeks, founder of Fantasy of Flight in Florida had his truly exceptional D model painted up as Lt George Preddy's 'Cripes A Mighty'. Preddy was the highest scoring Mustang ace of the conflict. Lee Lauderback steers a course through a stunning Florida sky.⁣

🛸 Some say it looks like a UFO. I tend to agree, and that acronym should stand for Unbelievable Flying Object.⁣

The F/A-22 Raptor still rules the roost when it comes to Air Dominance, doing things in the sky that seem like science fiction. Fly a square corner, no problem, pedal turn, there you go.⁣
It takes a whole new way of thinking to shoot too, as it moves so differently to other aircraft and you aren't allowed to show the 'secret' bits. ⁣

Whilst many consider it cutting edge, the tech is very much rooted in the 20th Century. However, Lockheed Martin engineers built in amazing foresight to the design, along with vectoring thrust. ⁣

Here, Colonel 'Screech' York throws off gravity and rockets his Hawaii Air National Guard Raptor into the blue, North of Oahu.⁣
