Big congratulations to Peter Andersson – winner of the 2026 Bruno Mathsson Prize! 🎉
We are both proud and delighted that one of the designers we have worked closely with over the years, through our brand NC Nordic Care AB, has been awarded the largest design prize in the Nordic region. The Bruno Mathsson Prize, awarded since 1984, recognises design of the very highest quality – and this year’s recipient is more than deserving.
Peter Andersson is behind several of our furniture icons, including the easy chair John, the armchair Charlie, as well as Rialto and Tilt. What they all share is a thoughtful design where function, ergonomics and aesthetics work in harmony – always with the user at the centre.
The jury highlights this clearly in its motivation: how Peter’s work, with ingenious concepts and subtle design, creates products that not only function – but also enrich everyday life with new insights and experiences. His work within care environments is particularly significant – settings with high demands on ergonomics and usability, where function and aesthetics must go hand in hand. Here, Peter Andersson demonstrates how thoughtful design can contribute to dignity, safety and a better everyday experience for users.
This is an important recognition that confirms the value of developing inclusive and well-considered furniture solutions.
The award ceremony will take place at Vandalorum in Värnamo, Sweden in connection with the opening of an exhibition showcasing Peter Andersson’s work. Read more about it here: https://press.vandalorum.se/posts/pressreleases/the-2026-bruno-mathsson-prize-awarded-to-pete
Congratulations, Peter – and thank you for continuing to shape sustainable and inclusive environments together with us!
