The ISAAC Rocket Experiment

The ISAAC Rocket Experiment ISAAC is an experiment that is designed and built by a team of students. It will be launched on a sounding rocket and investigate the middle atmosphere.

The ISAAC experiment is one of 8 student experiments that will be launched on a sounding rocket in March 2014 within the REXUS programme. ISAAC is being designed and built by a team of students at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. So far as many as 18 students have been involved with ISAAC - coming from fields like aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, physics, and s

imilar programmes. ISAAC is mainly supported by the department of Space and Plasma Physics at KTH, with more support coming from Stockholm University, SNSB, DLR, ESA, ISP Optics and Lesjöfors. The REXUS/BEXUS programme is realised under a bilateral Agency Agreement between the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and the Swedish National Space Board (SNSB). The Swedish share of the payload has been made available to students from other European countries through a collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA). EuroLaunch, a cooperation between the Esrange Space Center of SSC and the Mobile Rocket Base (MORABA) of DLR, is responsible for the campaign management and operations of the launch vehicles. Experts from ESA, SSC and DLR provide technical support to the student teams throughout the project.
