Connecting data centers to district heating

In 2025, HeatChain Oy, an energy-tech company that owns and operates data-boiler facilities, delivered 50 GWh of clean district heating energy in Finland, enabled by Alfa Laval.

As the world continues to embrace digitalization and AI, the real challenge is building more sustainable infrastructure to support them. One innovative and scalable solution is reusing heat from data centers.

In addition, HeatChain’s facilities achieved 3,650 tonnes of CO₂ emissions reduction in district heating production.

Next-gen service starts here!

Three years after its launch, the Alfa Laval Field Service Engineer Academy in India is building a stronger, more inclusive service workforce. It is also developing a pipeline of skilled Service Engineers to meet complex customer needs.

Engineers are recruited from regional colleges and enrolled in the one-year Alfa Laval Service Operation Competence Development programme. This brings a broad range of perspectives and enables teams to better understand local cultures, languages and customer expectations.

By investing in young talent, we continue to strengthen our service capabilities and build momentum for future growth and innovation.

Making the most of Myoken’s natural gift

Located in the volcanic region of Kirishima, Japan, is the hot spring resort Myoken Ishiharasou. With spring water at around 55°C and known for its therapeutic qualities, the resort once relied on mixing and storing water to control temperature – a process that lowered its natural quality.

To improve operational efficiency and, more importantly, to allow bathers to experience the spring water in its pure state without mixing or storing, Alfa Laval plate heat exchangers were introduced.

Installing Alfa Laval plate heat exchangers eliminated pipe clogging from oxidation, cut cleaning time, eased staff workload, and reduced energy costs by about 30% through heat recovery.

At the IEA’s Global Conference on Energy Efficiency in Montréal, the shift from ambition to action was tangible and Alfa Laval, representing the Energy Efficiency Movement, was at the centre of it.

From the CEO Roundtable to a high-level dialogue with EU Energy Commissioner Dan Jørgensen, our teams engaged where it matters most: building the frameworks, partnerships, and pipelines that will turn energy efficiency commitments into real-world results.

“What makes the CEO Roundtable genuinely powerful is the combination of voices in the room: private sector, financial institutions, and policymakers, all working together to identify and remove the real barriers to progress,” says Thomas Møller, President of the Energy Division, Alfa Laval. “When those three groups engage seriously with each other, that is where the breakthroughs happen.”
