It is time to reveal this year’s theme for the Experts of Tomorrow Innovation Race! And this year it is... 🥁 “Water – under, over, in and on.” 💧🐳

What is water? The answer is broad and open to interpretation. Pupils can explore examples of innovation connected to water in many ways, looking at how people can live better with water or how technology can help protect and sustain our ecosystems. How can we use water more intelligently, safely and sustainably in the future? That is the question at the heart of Experts of Tomorrow Innovation Race this year.

Du har väl inte glömt bort att lyssna på vår podcast ”Jakten på teknikintresset”?

90% av alla mellanstadieelever har ett intresse för teknik. Men det sjunker till 40% bland flickor och 70% bland pojkar när de kommer upp på högstadiet. Det finns redan idag en brist på ingenjörer och tekniker och om inget görs så kommer bristen vara ännu större i framtiden. En dyster framtidsspaning för teknik-konsultbolag som Sigma. Och en viktig fråga för oss och hela branschen. Vi gav därför Third Ear Studio och journalisten Josefin Patzauer uppdraget att undersöka vart teknikintresset tar vägen och varför det sjunker. Resultatet?

En undersökande podd-dokumentär i tre avsnitt som på ett engagerande och nyfiket sätt söker svaret på varför ungdomar, och då främst flickor, tappar intresset för teknik på högstadiet.

90% of all lower secondary school pupils in Sweden are interested in technology. But that figure drops to 40% among girls and 70% among boys by the time they reach upper secondary school. There is already a shortfall of engineers today, and if nothing is done, this will continue to grow in the future. A bleak outlook for a technology consultancy company like Sigma and a pressing issue for us as well as the entire industry.
That’s why they asked Third Ear Studio and journalist Josefin Patzauer to investigate why the young are turning away from technology disappears to and why it declines. The result?

An investigative podcast documentary in three episodes that, in an engaging and curious manner, seeks to understand why young people, especially girls, lose interest in technology during upper secondary school.

Last Friday, it was time for the Swedish Parasport Gala! Sigma presented the award for “Performance of the Year within Special Olympics,” and the winner was Joakim Lantz! Huge congratulations! 👏🎉

Linnéa Björndahl from Special Olympics Sweden presented the award on stage and spoke about the collaboration with Sigma:

“In 2019, the game changed. That was when Sigma became the main sponsor of Special Olympics, and not just a sponsor, but an enabler. We wanted to create change together. We wanted to get children and young adults with intellectual disabilities moving.

And we realized that it’s not one thing, not one activity, not one competition that will make a difference. Instead, we have to do it together, and we have to dare to believe that we will find that path if we try.

We had no money back then, we received no external funding, but Sigma stepped in and dared to invest in this – and it changed everything.”

The Magnet Employer Branding Awards is Sweden’s largest competition for employer branding communication. And below you can read the jury’s motivation for our place in the finals:

The Växtkraft career program provides a strong and secure start at Sigma Industry South through introductory courses led by experienced design engineers.
