Trying something new (for us), adjustable brew flow. We grew a bit tired on inconsistency in stock restrictors. Fitted this elderly dame with adjustable brew valves. Current flow is +\-0,7g. Pretty satisfied with those numbers, interesting If theses values stays consistent over time.

New day, new equipment going out. this time a Rocket Boxer. Before it ends up at customer, we want to try to improve it a bit. The boxer is a very capable machine at its price point, part from one small issue, the groups are running a bit hot. First try is a needle valve, replacing the top heat exchanger tube. Not fully satisfied, but at least now we can improve the temperature in the right direction.

Hack of the day and bit of geek alert. Customer machine, part missing, needed two similar parts for steam and hot water valve, only had one. Was nowhere to be found and new was a no go. So…a E 61 gasket holder had to be sacrificed. 6 mm through hole and some quick work with a bench grinder and hand held drill. Presto. Quite similar to the original and oh so satisfying being able to solve towards customer.

On the topic of mobile espresso solutions. Designed this solution a couple years back for the Linea Classic. We wanted to make the machine more manageable during trade shows. The LaMarzocco’s run a separate pump, not integrated within the machine. How to solve? 3 mm stainless bridge that’s suspended on rubber grommets was the solution. The machine needed to be put on stilts (taller legs) but actually worked out for the better. We added a couple slits for straps, this to attach cable, water hose and drain, to further the ease of use when setting up during trade shows.

Electrical fixer maker day is over. We finally got this now restored machine back to its owner. The main job was to replace the brew tank, but the machine is manufactured 2005, so all electrical connectors and cables needed to be checked. We went through all cables, connectors, fitted all new polyamide insulators, replaced all screw terminals and in some cases cables for new. The old terminals, cables and connectors where falling to pieces. It’s hard to grasp the amount of work that goes in to all the small details on a job like this, we are happy to see this machine back in action.

Gaggia Classic pro (tip). Common issue with this little Classic machine is a clogged group outlet. Our fix is to take apart the boiler, clean it out, fit a stainless mesh filter on the level tube to prevent future clogging.
