Alongside sustainability and diversity, safety and well-being are becoming increasingly important for employees and organisations. We had the opportunity to meet with Helle Bonde, Head of Global Health and Safety who is responsible for developing and implementing policies and programmes to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of AFRYs employees worldwide.

"Our employees are our greatest asset. We believe that every person matters, and we strive to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for everyone who works for AFRY [...] We prioritise not only meeting legal health and safety requirements but also contributing to AFRY's broader goals, such as operational excellence and sustainability. This means promoting a safety culture that aligns with our values and ensures the wellbeing of our staff throughout the value chain. By aligning safety practices with our organisational goals, we create a safer and more resilient workplace," says Helle.

AFRY works continuously to support LGBTQI+ rights and to ensure we have an inclusive culture, where all employees feel safe to be themselves. We approach LGBTQI+ rights from multiple perspectives: we talk about it, we act, we educate, and we learn from others.

We would like to take the opportunity to share our LGBTQI+ guide, a supporting document that helps us – and hopefully can help your organisation too.

How to empower the inclusion of people in the workplace

13/03/2024

At AFRY, we celebrate the diversity of our minds, understanding that each of us thinks and sees the world in unique ways. In this video you will meet some of our brave employees who share their stories of neurodiversity.

Recognising neurodiversity means understanding and appreciating conditions like autism, ADHD, and dyslexia. We believe in learning about and valuing these different ways of thinking because it helps us create a welcoming place for everyone. It's the mix of our unique minds that drives us toward new ideas and innovation.

Therefore, we are thrilled to present our new guide to neurodiversity, to raise awareness and to support people with different neurological conditions.

Rule number one when it comes to unconscious biases: accept that we all have them and that it does not make us bad people. Being biased is being human. We need to challenge our biases and learn about them so that we can eliminate them.

To help you become aware and learn more, we would like to share our guide to unconscious bias! We hope it will give you some new knowledge about how the brain works, help you get a better understanding of what unconscious bias is, and that you will feel confident enough to challenge your biases in your future decision making.

How to empower the inclusion of people in the workplace at AFRY

11/03/2024

Are you currently in the process of finding a new job in a country other than your country of origin? Sofia Klingberg, Inclusion and Diversity Manager at AFRY, shares three useful tips that can be applied to all areas of expertise, whether you're an engineer or not.

Tip 1: Competence - think specialist, not generalist. You can’t know everything, so focus on your core competence and tailor your application according to business, company and position.

Tip 2: Your network is important – it helps you be a person, and not only a printed name on a piece of paper. Try to be brave and reach out to new people, even if you find it scary.

Tip 3: Have a positive attitude and believe in yourself. Follow your dream. You are valuable, and you have a competence that the world needs! Focus on your special skill and don't give up.

Have you ever considered how few products are designed with women's specific needs in mind? 👀 Everyday items like furniture, smartphones, and cars are often tailored for the average man. Overlooking gender differences in design and healthcare can lead to costly or even fatal consequences.

FemTech, or female technology, offers tailored diagnostic tools, products, and services for women's health needs. Companies in this field focus on innovative solutions for conditions that affect women uniquely, like ADHD or cardiovascular diseases with gender-specific symptoms, or product design which includes the female perspective. FemTech has the potential to make a significant global impact by improving access to healthcare services, empowering women to take control of their health, and advancing research and innovation in women's health.

In honor of International Women’s Day, we want to thank our female colleagues for developing innovative solutions, accelerating sustainable transitions, and serving as role models for girls and women interested in technology. You all play an important role in making our industry more equal! 💚

On March 8th, we come together to celebrate our yearly Inclusion & Diversity Week, a six-day event where we promote and learn more about inclusion and diversity. 🎉🎈

We believe that diversity is a strength. We embrace our differences and strive for a variety of perspectives in everything we do. And we know that an inclusive workplace, where everyone is allowed to be their true self, is a more dynamic, more creative workplace – where people feel better, and where great ideas come to life.

This is the seventh time we are organising the event, and we hope to inspire you to learn more about the topic and always aspire to become even more inclusive towards each other.
