I have always firmly believed that you can get a lot further with someone by being kind than being mean.

In a world where many are choosing to take the low road, including the media on every side and platform, it is refreshing to see others choosing to take the high road.

We need more people who make every effort to understand, instead of always trying to be understood. We need more forgiveness, instead of judgment. We just simply need more love, than hate.

In fact, sometime we just need to give a hug

When a man enters a police station holding a knife to his neck, one police officer perfectly diffuses the situation.

How to React When Someone Is Unkind – Technique and Powerful Video

How you handle adversity as a leader says a lot about you as a leader. And, there are ways to handle it appropriately and there are ways not to.

The following video is on bullying. It is done by a man named Brooks Gibbs. He has a really good technique for stopping bullies. He says that bullying has nothing to do with being short, tall, fat, skinny, wearing glasses or anything else like that, it has to do with how people being bullied react.

It’s the law of reciprocity. If I am mean to you, there is a good chance that you will be mean to me. If I am kind to you, there is a good chance that you will be kind to me.

Next time you find yourself in a situation where someone is talking down to you, making snide and personal remarks, or just being mean in general—think about this video.

Instead of reacting with anger; react with kindness.
Be kind to unkind people. It is powerful stuff!

Two Teamwork Videos That Demonstrate Teamwork Isn’t Always Productive

Is teamwork always productive? When you watch the two videos below you get a sense that may not always be the case.

One of the important challenges of leaders is to foster teamwork. Another challenge is to get teams to be productive.

Your team might work well together, but if they are working on the wrong things, or working a process that is broken or not efficient, it doesn’t matter how strong their teamwork is.

Teamwork and results can be two entirely different things.

You might consider sharing these videos to highlight the need for strong teamwork, but to also emphasize that teams must work smart!

We can get so caught up in the day to day things as leaders that we simply forget the most important things. Great leadership in business won’t mean much if your aren’t providing it at home as well.

Balancing our time and demands as leaders is always going to be a challenge. Getting it right is a blessing.

I love the following video and how simple the message is. It is an important lesson for leaders. And please take the time with those who matter most.

“Real change will take place when individuals transform themselves guided by the values that lie at the core of all human ethical systems, scientific findings, and common sense.”
–the Dalai Lama

The Dalai Lama encourages us to set a goal extending our compassion, our caring, our concern, to care for everyone on the planet without exception. That may seem like quite a far reach. On the other hand, if you think about the people in your life who are most nourishing, they have that quality. The Dalai Lama is saying: take that quality and cultivate it, and keep expanding it.

Those of us who are leaders that care are always looking for ways to get better. Empathy is at the heart of being a leader that cares. What is the greatest secret to more empathy for leaders? I think I found it in the below video.

If it were possible to see what others are dealing with written across their foreheads, our world would be a different place. Instead, we have to really work hard at empathy by putting ourselves in the shoes of others. But working hard at it and developing it, is possible.

So, it’s the last day of your life. What is going through your mind that day? What’s going through your mind that last hour?

Is there anything you would do differently?

In January of 2009, Ric Elias was in the front-row seat of Flight 1549 and was heading for what seemed to be a catastrophic crash into the Hudson River in New York. As the plane was nearing the water, and he believed this was the end, he thought, “just blow up.” He didn’t want the plane breaking into pieces. He just wanted it to end fast.

Ric survived as the Captain, Chesley B. Sullenberger was able to successfully crash-land the Airbus A320-200 and save all 155 occupants on board. He tells a powerful and moving story in the video below of what went through his mind moments before the plane went down.

I am floored by the leadership courage this bullied teenager took to become not only an unbelievable leader at his school, but also something else you will have to watch the video to see.

Josh led in a very nontraditional way and changed the culture of his school in a remarkable way. Bullied himself, he decided to do things differently.

Our brain is puzzling. It is curiously large given the size of our bodies, and uses a tremendous amount of energy for its weight. No other animal's brain compares. Neuroscientist Suzana Herculano-Houzel put on her detective cap to lead us through these mysteries, starting with a big question: Exactly how many cells are in our brains? (No one had ever counted -- until she did.)

The human brain is puzzling -- it is curiously large given the size of our bodies, uses a tremendous amount of energy for its weight and has a bizarrely dense cerebral cortex. But: why? Neuroscientist Suzana Herculano-Houzel puts on her detective's cap and leads us through this mystery. By making "b…
