Sweden takes position as a global climate matchmaker at Climate Week New York.

Today at the Consulate General of Sweden in NYC – in the presence of Sweden’s Minister for Climate and the Environment Romina Pourmokhtari, Climate Ambassador Mattias Frumerie and Business Sweden’s Sustainability Manager Emma Modéer Wiking – Sweden’s Non-Negotiating Delegation to COP30 launched the report Sweden – The Climate Matchmaker for Global Action.

As nations prepare to submit their updated climate plans, NDCs, ahead of COP30, this report outlines available solutions and enabling conditions to make the NDCs both actionable and investable, sector by sector.

The report brings together unique perspectives from leading companies, government agencies, academia, and civil society, united by a clear message: solutions exist.

Despite geopolitical turmoil and record high uncertainty, Swedish companies continue to perform well in international markets.

This year’s Global Business Climate Survey – which has expanded and now covers 37 markets in total – shows that 70 per cent of respondents have a moderately positive outlook.

Key findings:
• 46% of Swedish companies plan to increase their overseas investments
• 65% expect industry turnover to increase
• 82% confirm that Brand Sweden gives them a competitive advantage abroad

Den handelspolitiska osäkerheten har aldrig varit större. Business Swedens Exportchefsindex (EMI) föll med 3,5 enheter till 46,4 andra kvartalet i svallvågorna av president Trumps handelskrig.

Index för förväntad exportefterfrågan från Nordamerika störtdök med 30,2 enheter till 26,3 andra kvartalet. ”Det är den lägsta uppmätta nivån sedan mätningarna startade 2007”, konstaterar Business Swedens chefekonom Lena Sellgren.

Handelskrig och geopolitisk oro ökar risken för stigande inflation.

Tillväxten i globala ekonomin förväntas falla till 2,6 procent av BNP 2025. Trots president Trumps nyinförda tullar kan en gryende optimism skönjas i Europa.

”Trumps oberäknelighet har gett Europa en ordentlig knuff i rätt riktning. Det vi ser är en ombalansering av den globala tillväxten till fördel för Europa”, konstaterar Lena Sellgren, chefekonom på Business Sweden.

Business Sweden's Export Managers’ Index (EMI) showed an uptick in the first quarter after two quarters of falling results. EMI rose by 1.1 points to 49.9 – but export companies have a gloomy view of future prospects.

”Several forward-looking subindices fell in the first quarter which most likely reflects the prevailing uncertainty in the global export market,” says Lena Sellgren, Chief Economist at Business Sweden.

Business Swedens Exportchefsindex (EMI) vände upp första kvartalet efter att ha fallit två kvartal i rad. EMI ökade med 1,1 enheter till 49,9 – men exportföretagen har en dyster syn när de blickar framåt.

”Flera framåtblickande delindex föll första kvartalet vilket sannolikt speglar den osäkerhet som råder på den globala exportmarknaden”, säger Lena Sellgren, chefekonom på Business Sweden.
