💙New citizens gather at Stockholm’s City Hall on Sweden’s National Day, which is exactly why the ceremony is held today — the date symbolizes unity, democracy, and the idea of belonging.
Becoming a citizen on this day makes the moment even more meaningful.

💛Everything is very smoothly organized — from check‑in to seating. It feels calm, respectful, and festive at the same time.

💙The hosts explain the meaning of the day and why Sweden celebrates new citizens on June 6. It’s short, warm, and easy to follow.

💛Local politicians greet everyone, but in true Swedish style, they keep it very brief — just a few minutes each.

💙Because this is Sweden, The Lion King is extremely popular, so of course Circle of Life appears — and it fits perfectly.
There’s also a touch of Eurovision, with John Lundvik performing.

💛Everyone receives a Stockholm Stad badge featuring St. Erik, the patron of the city — a symbolic welcome into the community.

💙After the ceremony, there’s fika in one of the most beautiful settings imaginable — a perfect ending, relaxed and friendly, very Swedish.

It was my best National Day in Sweden ever.
Thank you, Sweden.🇸🇪

💙💛💙

Sweden becoming Europe’s first smoke‑free nation means that fewer than 5% of adults smoke daily — the official WHO definition of “smoke‑free.”

In Sweden’s case, the rate is even lower, around 4.5–5.3%, depending on the population group.

(Also hitting the goal 16 years earlier than the EU’s 2040 target 💪)

It’s a huge public‑health win — high taxes, strong public‑health campaigns, and safer alternatives helped make it happen.

(And yes, snus is a whole different story, with its own long tradition and debate.)

My invitation to the citizenship ceremony — and the official welcome to Stockholm as my home finally arrived. 💫🤩

It’s beautiful. Almost worth the five‑year wait.

Anders, a Home Guard soldier (the best translation that I can come for the ”hemvärnssoldaten”) found the missing two‑year‑old alive.

The two‑year‑old boy who disappeared in Nyåker, Nordmaling municipality, around ten o’clock on Sunday morning has been found alive. He was discovered about a 20‑minute walk from his home after being missing for about 15 hours.

Police, the Armed Forces, mountain rescue teams, rescue services, and volunteers took part in the search, supported by dogs, drones, and helicopters.

Anders Evenson was part of a search group consisting of Home Guard soldiers from the Ångermanland Battalion and conscripts from the Total Defense Protection Center in Umeå. About an hour into the search, Anders heard what sounded like a child crying outside the search area and eventually found the boy.

“The feeling is very hard to describe,” Anders says. “It was a very special feeling to see such a small child alone in the forest at night, crying. I haven’t slept much, but I’m glad it ended well.”

It was a weekend at the end of March, and Örebro felt charming, even if it was windy and a bit chilly.

The city is easy to walk, full of parks, and has a relaxed small‑city vibe.

Örebro Castle sits in the middle of the city, surrounded by water, and looks like something from a storybook.

Wadköping was the thing! A cute open‑air museum with old wooden houses, cafés, and small shops.

I’ll be back! 😍

Definitely not impressed. 🤌😆

Europe Day was yesterday — but still, Happy Europe Day! 🇪🇺

Sweden has been part of the European Union since 1995, and whether we talk about it often or not, being European is a big part of who we are. It shapes how we live, how we move, how we work, and how we see our place in the world.

Maybe it’s naive, but I still believe in what was declared back in 1950 in the Schuman Declaration — the idea that peace, cooperation, and solidarity can be the foundation of something bigger than any one country.

Because Europe is our home and it’s worth believing in.

Clearly not impressed with Scandinavian minimalism. 🤌🤣

Valborg is celebrated on the 30th of April and is Sweden’s big “welcome, spring” festival.

Across the country choirs are singing traditional spring songs, communities are lighting huge bonfires, and people are gathering outdoors after a long winter.

While Valborg is celebrated everywhere, Uppsala turns it into a cultural phenomenon. The city’s big student population transforms the day into one giant festival.

If you want to experience Valborg at its most energetic, this is the place.

One of the most famous Valborg traditions in Uppsala is the student rafting on the Fyris River. Every year students build their own rafts and float down the river while crowds cheer from the bridges and riverbanks.

The idea started in the 1970s when engineering students decided to celebrate Valborg in a more playful way.

Valborg definitely belongs to Uppsala 🤩
