Landmark agreement or a true shame? There were clear mixed feelings and signals after late Sunday (with 2-day extension) announcement of agreement. The Cop26 president, Alok Sharma, apologized, many climate activists got disappointed, many politicians declared victory, man clapped and many cried. Many blamed coal lobby, India, and China for changing phase-out of coal to phase-down. Many blamed the US and UK for their lack of leadership. While the true feeling might never reveal but it is true that all made compromises to take a step forward to reach 1.5 degree target.

It takes compromises to make a deal and it seems that we all made that to reach COP26 agreement. It is very clear that this is not enough, but we need to continue working to make more commitments in COP27 in Egypt.

We at Cartina welcome the deal while we insist that more needs to be done. That’s why we will launch our Sustainability and Energy Advisory Services soon! The service is meant to support both large corporate and SMEs not only to meet their environment requirements but also create extra business value. During the last two weeks, we at Cartina followed in details and tried to enrich our knowledge and tools with the latest updates and shared part of our insights with you, Cartina’s friends.
A new version of the COP26 draft agreement was published early today. The report contains unprecedented language around fossil fuels, despite a fierce campaign from some major coal, oil and gas producers to have it removed entirely. This is such a great news for all!

We also know that military emits a hidden but still large chunk of carbon. We not only need to report and reduce carbon emissions in military. In addition, by implementation of sustainability measures, we need to reduce the actual necessity for military and also reduce any military force globally.

We at Cartina, welcome the final agreement in and looking forward to supporting our customers to implement sustainability measures to not only do good for the environment but also to make even more growth in the business.

Certain large companies are required by EU law to disclose information on the way they operate and manage social and environmental challenges. This facilitates investors, civil society organizations, consumers, policy makers and other stakeholders to evaluate the non-financial performance of large companies and encourages these companies to develop a responsible approach to business. Non-Financial Reporting Directive (NFRD) creates the rules on disclosure of non-financial and diversity information by certain large companies.

We are reaching the end of . In addition to the existing EU law - NFRD, COP26 should provide a fundamental role in making a reality of the many promises of net-zero emissions. The current inconsistency regarding the scope and the language of the recent regulations may confuse investors who could misinterpret the vast array of environmental, social, and governance information at their disposal.

We at Cartina demand a decisive conclusion on COP26 by making a binding agreement to reduce carbon emissions. The recent draft agreement between China and the US gives hopes.
Cartina also supports any European organization with their non-financial reporting consistent with EU law defined in NFDR.

‘We must use this opportunity to create more equal world!’ This is the key takeaway from Sir David Attenborough' speech in . It is true that we are all responsible for climate change, maybe some more and some less, but we all did apparently wrong. The good news is that we all recognize that at this stage. This is a big step toward compensating for the harm already made. However, we should not be satisfied to be recovered to the same stage as before. We need to set the ambitions to get recovered to a much better world, an equal world.

We at Cartina welcome any fair accountability related to climate change. We support our clients to reduce their carbon emissions and make their sustainable investments even more profitable than non-sustainable alternatives.
