At Nordpil, we specialize in providing clear, powerful and attractive maps, charts and other graphics for print and the web. We have prepared geographic data and visual material that has been published in National Geographic, Nature and major newspapers. Reports from the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), World Resources Institute (WRI), the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) and others have featured graphics prepared by Hugo Ahlenius, who also acted as graphics editor on some of these flagship reports. Shared Voices 2016

For the 2016 edition of Shared Voices magazine, which is the annual newsletter and annual report of the University of the Arctic, Hugo Ahlenius prepared an updated map of University of the Arctic members across the circumpolar Arctic, using ArcMap and Adobe Illustrator based on data supplied by the University of the Arctic secretariat.

The extent of the sea ice in the Arctic reached a record low for the month of August this year (2012) - with the ice reaching 4.72 million square kilometers. I thought it would be fun to prepare a map over that using the latest available data.
