Main customer segments are academic research, research institutes and the industrial sector. In academic research, customers invest in analytical instruments for the purpose of specific basic or applied research projects or as a general tool for the lab, always with the aim to produce good research that can be published for peer review in scientific journals. In research institutes, the aim is normally to conduct specific research or development projects that have been ordered by a customer or a principal. In the industrial sector, analytical instruments are used both for general research purposes and specific development tasks, but also for quality and process control purposes. We have customers in more than 70 countries. Research and development is a truly global activity, where discoveries and findings are spread quickly throughout the world through the publication of scientific articles and new product introductions from global corporations. For Biolin Scientific, it is an advantage that our products can be designed by our product companies for a fairly homogenous international market.
