Most Singapore businesses are on a plan they set and forgot. Some are auto-renewing without checking if they're getting a fair rate. Others don't even know which plan type they're on.

Our team will review your current electricity contract, benchmark it against live market rates, and give you a clear picture of where you stand.

If you're overpaying, we'll tell you. If you're not, we'll tell you that too.

The sharp fuel price rises after February 28, driven by Middle East disruptions โ€” aren't fully in your bill yet. They will be in Q3.

SP Group has confirmed it: tariffs in the subsequent quarters are expected to increase further as the full effect of elevated natural gas prices is incorporated.

What this means for you:

โ€” If your contract is expiring soon, renewing now puts you ahead of the Q3 announcement
โ€” If you're on the regulated tariff, the increase will be automatic
โ€” If you're on SP Wholesale, your exposure is growing every week

The businesses that act before the announcement almost always get better options than those who wait until after.

In 2008, the global financial crisis hit. Revenue dropped 75%.

Most companies contracted. Alan Jones, our founder, did the opposite, he saw a market that needed transformation, and built AECO Energy from scratch.

Starting as Power Choice in Australia, AECO expanded to Singapore with one mission: give businesses the same market intelligence and buying power that large corporations take for granted.

Today, 15+ years later, we're headquartered in Singapore with 80+ professionals across Australia, Singapore, and the Philippines โ€” and we're still fighting for the same thing we started with.

Fairer energy costs. Smarter procurement. No conflicts of interest.

The Strait of Hormuz is effectively closed โ€” and Singapore businesses are already feeling it. Brent crude is trading at US$113.99 per barrel as of April 29, 2026 โ€” up 83.6% compared to this time last year.

The shutdown of this vital corridor has halted roughly 20% of global oil shipments. The IEA has called it the largest supply shock on record.

For Singapore, the impact is direct. Our nation generates ~95% of its electricity from natural gas. Singapore middle distillate prices have already hit all-time highs above $290/barrel. That feeds straight into your electricity costs.

The businesses navigating this well aren't the ones reacting, they're the ones who reviewed their energy position before the market moved. If you haven't done that yet, now is the time.

With page searches for AECO Energy up 94.2% in the final week of March and tariffs already rising, more Singapore businesses are actively thinking about their energy strategy right now.

The worst time to make this decision is when you're already under deadline pressure.

If your business consumes at least 2,000 kWh of electricity per month or spends around $500+ on your electricity bill, you're a contestable customer in Singapore.

That means you have the right to choose your electricity retailer and potentially pay less than the regulated tariff.

But here's the problem: most business owners don't know this. And the ones who do often don't know how to navigate the process which retailers to compare, what to look for in contract terms, and when to switch.

That's exactly the gap AECO Energy was built to fill.

Two businesses can consume the exact same amount of electricity and still receive very different pricing.

Why? Because electricity pricing in Singapore isn't just about kWh.

It's about:

โ€” When you consume (peak vs off-peak load profiles)
โ€” How you buy (SP Wholesale, fixed rate, DOT plans)
โ€” When you locked in (market timing at contract signing)
โ€” Who negotiated on your behalf

Most businesses sign a contract and assume they got a fair deal. The ones that consistently pay less are the ones with visibility into the market and expertise at the table.

Electricity tariffs in Singapore just went up โ€” effective April 1, 2026.

The Q2 rate is now 27.27 cents/kWh (before GST), a 2.1% increase from last quarter.

But here's what businesses should pay closer attention to: EMA has explicitly warned that tariffs could rise further and more sharply in the quarters ahead, as ongoing Middle East tensions continue to disrupt global oil and gas supply chains.

This is the time to review not when you're already mid-renewal under pressure.
