Advanced Manufacturing Employees' Union AMEU is an affiliated union of the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC). Formerly known as Metal Industries Workers' Union (MIWU).

AMEU is an affiliated union under the Singapore National Trades Union Congress (NTUC). Establised in 1981 as Metal Industries Workers' Union, the Union was rebranded as Advanced Manufacturing Employees' Union in 2021. It has about 24,000 members up to date.

Singapore’s labour market stayed resilient in 2Q 2026, but pressure remains uneven.
📈 Employment grew by 10,700
📊 Unemployment stayed stable at 2.0%

⚠️ Retrenchments rose from 3,830 to 4,500, with Manufacturing and Information and Communications more affected.

The silver lining: looking ahead, more firms expect to hire and raise wages, while fewer expect to retrench.
