If AI gets it wrong, who is responsible? That was the question Yun-Han Lee, BIPO's Country GM - Malaysia, put to the room at the CHRO Nexus Forum 2026.

Across two days in Kuala Lumpur with Malaysia, this was one of the key conversations that got the audience talking and thinking.

A few takeaways from Yun-Han’s session that stayed with us:

↗️ Automate the work, not the accountability: can handle repetitive work. People still need to own the outcome.

↗️ Define a line between AI assistance and human judgement: Not every decision should be automated, especially when it affects pay, or employees.

↗️ Know who bears the cost when AI gets it wrong: A error is not just a data issue. For an employee, it can mean a missed bill or a difficult month.

↗️ Scale AI with human oversight in mind: only works if people have the time and tools to review exceptions properly.

↗️ Ownership, transparency and auditability: If no one can explain the decision or show an audit trail, the process is not ready for scale.

The focus is to use AI where it adds real value – reducing administrative tasks and errors, improving efficiency and giving teams more time to focus on the human judgement, accountability and trust that payroll demands.

Thank you, Malaysia, for the conversations and connections!

Regional workforces are growing and administrative models built for single markets are reaching their limit.

Multi-country is a strategic function, directly affecting , accuracy, speed and the employee experience. It also shapes how quickly and confidently businesses can scale into new markets.

In an exclusive interview with Human Resources Online, Florence Mok (Managing Director - North Asia), highlights what makes that growth sustainable: “As organisations grow across multiple markets, consistency in workforce operations becomes a competitive advantage.”

At BIPO, we bring HR, multi-country payroll and Employer of Record (EOR) services - with compliance expertise - together on one connected platform, giving businesses greater visibility and consistency as they grow across borders.

That’s a wrap from us at ETHRWorld Future Forward Malaysia 2026!

A day of in-person conversations with over 200 C-Suite leaders and senior HR professionals in Kuala Lumpur, one key perspective was clear: the shift to Work, Rewritten is already taking place. We’re moving past traditional job descriptions towards AI collaboration that's focused on real, measurable impact.

Over a panel discussion with BIPO's Yun-Han Lee, (Country GM, Malaysia) around Human by Design: Trust, Purpose & Belonging in an AI-First Workplace with amazing HR thought leaders, a few key realities came up:

➡️ Knowing when to (or not to) use AI: In high-precision areas like and , accuracy and go hand in hand. is great for flagging issues early but human verification is essential before any decision hits your team. The broader picture: think what a mistake means to you, your employees and the employee experience.

➡️ Designing the experience for everyone: AI has made a huge impact on office/desk-based teams – but the immediate opportunity lies with frontline and deskless workers who have unique language, device, and accessibility needs.

➡️ Protecting the human voice. The employees who speak up, are the most vocal may just be your best ally because they’re likely the ones who care enough to want to make things better.

And our biggest takeaway from the day? It’s about accountability, productivity, and getting that balance right. AI can boost how we work but it’s us, our people and teams who are responsible for the outcomes. Getting an AI-first culture right is about that balance between leveraging for speed and keeping human ownership front and center.

Thank you, Malaysia for an incredible experience! And a massive shoutout to our fellow panellists and everyone who dropped by our booth ✨✨

Have a great start to the week, everyone!

We recently sat down with 's Mind Your Money for a live radio interview - a fantastic opportunity to share candid insights about what really happens when businesses expand overseas.

We covered the workforce challenges companies underestimate and the "timeline trap" that blindsides leaders mid-expansion.

The biggest takeaway? Beyond talent and strategy, successful market entry comes down to local knowledge, trusted networks, and having the right partners who understand the landscape on the ground.

All this month, there's been an incredible buzz across BIPO following the announcement of our US$50 million investment from Apis Partners.

While the investment is a significant milestone, it's only the beginning! What matters most is how we use it to create greater value for our clients, empower our teams, and help businesses expand globally with greater confidence!

Our priorities are clear:
➡️ Accelerate capabilities across our payroll and HR solutions.
➡️ Strengthen our R&D capabilities.
➡️ Reduce onboarding and payroll timelines for multi-market organisations.

Every investment we make is focused on one objective: building smarter payroll and HR infrastructure that enables businesses to pay and manage talent seamlessly across borders.

One unified technology platform. Three pillars - HR Management System, Global Payroll Outsourcing, Employer of Record. No fragmented systems, no local compliance guesswork.

This investment sharpens that advantage.

Innovation is changing the way we work, and AI is part of how we're building smarter, faster workflows.

Today, we're taking another step forward with the appointment of Virender Aggarwal (VA) as Corporate Strategy Consultant.

No one understands APAC and compliance quite like we do. And to scale that success across Europe and North America requires a different kind of blueprint. Having VA’s expertise in our corner changes the game. Combining our regional strength with his global perspective is how we plan to sharpen our go-to-market strategy and scale our growth.

Excited for what’s ahead – welcome on board, VA!
