In the 1970s, my late parents started a Putu Piring stall at a coffee shop in front of Masjid Kassim (Changi Road). From just putu piring, they ventured into selling Satay and Yong Tau Foo. Hence the birth of the specially made chilli sauce. It became so popular that customers requested to purchase the chilli sauce but my parents never did want to sell due to the tediously long cooking time needed to make it.
We started selling the chilli sauce only about 6 years ago after several friends repeatedly requested to purchase. However, had to stop making it due to the exorbitant increase in price of ingredients that made it too costly to make with a very little or no profit margin...(actually sold the sauce at a loss each time 😂😂😂)
Recently, we revived it and started selling again to close friends upon requests. Hence here it is, our humble family's own recipe of the special dipping sauce 👍👍👍.
