Greetings! This is a short update on AlterCulture Studios for the year 2022.

We are currently taking a break from taking up new projects until further notice. AlterCulture Studios will be spending this period of time to upgrade ourselves in preparations for the longer term. We have been silent on public updates because of that.

We are still going to be active in working on the commitments we have already made. If you came here hoping to start a new project or explore an idea, feel free to chat with us still.

Hoping to return with good news once we are complete with our preparations!

It’s the March school holidays! Today we ran a special edition of The Paper Playground for a very energetic group of young game makers.

From poisonous pizzas, to escaping killer Oreos, to ogres and flying deer. We were endlessly amazed by the creativity and imagination on display!

Shoutout to the parents who not only entrusted us with their children, but for encouraging their children to play! Next time maybe it’ll be the parents’ turn to come make some games? 🤷‍♂️

Sometimes all we need is a bit of a nudge to get your creative juices flowing. We’ve seen some of our participants encounter scenarios/problems they’re stuck on, and subsequently manage to come up with the most unexpected solutions when allowed to roam free in our Paper Playground!

The Paper Playground: A Game Design Workshop is a 3-hour workshop that will give you a sneak peek into the life of a game designer. We’ll give you an introduction to the basics of game design before you get some hands-on experience in designing your very own tabletop game prototype! You’ll even get to take it home with you!

We spent the last Friday morning in SJI, where Jedi was sharing about his own career exploration journey with some of the sec 4 students!

We were impressed by the inventiveness and creativity of many of the students, especially during the curveball we threw during one of the exercises.
