In light of the possible effects of the ongoing tensions in the Middle East, the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) wishes to reiterate the provisions outlined in Item 6 of the General Provisions of Memorandum Circular No. MD-2024-01:
βReissuance of expiring/lost/damaged Seafarerβs Record Book (SRB) and/or Seafarerβs Identity Document (SID) while onboard shall be applied through Online Appointment System (OAS) and filed by a duly authorized representative of the shipping company or manning agency.β
This ensures that seafarers have continued access to essential documentation without unnecessary delays or disruptions to their duties amidst the current geopolitical situation.
Further, MARINA advises all shipping companies and manning agencies to familiarize themselves with the procedures and requirements outlined in Item 1 of the Specific Provisions of the said Circular to facilitate a smooth application process.
It is of utmost importance to prioritize the safety and well-being of all seafarers during these challenging times.
