We discussed the evolving needs of the industry with an aim to make adjustments to the curriculum to make it more relevant. Doing this would enable bigger possibilities and opportunities for the graduates when they graduate. The discussion focused not only on both technical and behavioural skills but also on values and character-building.

Ex-Schlumberger Seniors😊

Our CEO/Chief Consultant with ex-colleagues from Schlumberger. She says, "Sclumberger is the first International company I worked with (in 1994 to 1998). It gave me lots of opportunities to hone my competencies by contributing to projects in Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore and Brunei.
After being trained on International Recruitment in Paris (HQ) in 1994, I was tasked to recruit Field Engineers from Australia and Indonesia (giving priority to female qualified applicants to promote diversity)."

She added: "My passion for diversity in the workplace is not acquired just lately. It has been engrained in me by Schlumberger, a truly international and diverse company that supports women in the workplace and gives them lots of chances to enhance their skills and competencies. This is the company that made me take helicopter rides to rigs, jumping from a mail basket attached to a crane on a rig and jumping down to a swaying supply boat on rough waters. The company did not just send me to the rig without training. Even the jump from the moving basket down to the swaying supply boat has a technique I needed to learn."

HROD is a major sponsor of 6AAMP (6th ASEAN & Asia Mentoring Program) which aims to promote Mentoring as a Culture at work or anywhere relevant . We participated in today's awareness session for Vietnam.

Through this program, HR leaders will be able to hone their mentoring skills and be prepared to start mentoring at work.

Corporate participants are welcome! HR leaders may choose to act as mentors (and get certified) or nominate mentees from their own company to be mentored by Mentors from elsewhere in Asia.

Ms. Marda Romillo-Saturno got invited to speak about the importance of Change during the Review and Update of Policies of the Calamba City Environment, Natural Resources Office on March 2-5. These policies were now updated to be relevant with the current circumstances and needs of Calamba City.
The workshop was graced by the Calamba City Mayor Hon. Ross Rizal and led by the CENRO Head, Ms.Loida Humarang.

The CEO and Chief Consultant of HROD Management Consultancy Services got invited to the Mactan Export Processing Zone HR Association (MEPZ-HRA) General Assembly to speak on the topic, "The Future of Work."

Ms. Marda talked about how Automation, Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence affect the facets of Work, Workplace and Workforce focused on the Manufacturing sector. She presented the current practices in Singapore and Malaysia as well as relevant survey results from McKinsey, PWC, Inly, Motley Fool and MITSloan.

An expert on Change Management, she ended her talk by giving lots of Tips and Advice on how HR can cope and embrace the current scenario. She shared which areas of HR Management must be given attention to positively adapt and benefit from digitalization and AI to avoid being left out.

Our CEO and Chief Consultant Marda Saturno got invited to a Mentoring podcast shoot today in Singapore. She would be the 5th in a series of six (6) "Mentoring as a Culture" podcast episodes but she requested to be the first to do the shooting due to her tight schedule ahead. The podcast series is sponsored by HRFC Group in Singapore and backed up by Singapore Workforce Agency.

She mentioned, "Surprisingly, there was no rehearsal, the first shoot was it. When I do things like these, I don't worry much. I just need to have my black coffee and remain being my authentic self."
