WEEKLY FIRE SAFETY RECAP
Two major fires were reported in Singapore last Friday, 12 June.
📍 Tuas Industrial Warehouse Fire
In the early hours of Friday morning, SCDF was alerted to a fire at an industrial warehouse at 3 Gul Crescent.
The fire involved a warehouse about the size of a football field. SCDF deployed about 80 firefighters and 20 emergency vehicles, using multiple water jets, firefighting machines, and an aerial monitor.
The fire was extinguished at about 10am. No injuries were reported.
📍 Sengkang HDB Flat Fire
Later that afternoon, a fire broke out in the bedroom of a third-floor unit at Block 125 Rivervale Street.
SCDF extinguished the blaze with a water jet.
🏥 Six people were taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.
🏢 About 120 residents were evacuated as a precaution.
The causes of both fires were under investigation at the time of reporting.
The reminder for every workplace is simple:
Fire risks are not limited to one kind of building.
They can affect warehouses, offices, homes, shared workspaces, and the people around them.
For offices and workspaces, start with the basics:
✅ Keep escape routes clear.
✅ Avoid overloading power strips.
✅ Check charging areas before leaving for the day.
✅ Store spare laptops, power banks, and batteries properly.
✅ Make sure fire-safety equipment is accessible and suitable for your risks.
Preparedness is not about panic. It is about noticing risks early, keeping escape routes clear, and having suitable fire-safety equipment accessible.
Stay alert. Stay prepared.
