Plastic roads are a groundbreaking innovation in sustainable infrastructure, and the Netherlands is leading the way in making them a reality. These roads are constructed using recycled plastic waste, offering a strong and eco-friendly alternative to traditional asphalt. The core idea is to use plastic modulesโ€”lightweight, pre-fabricated units that can be easily assembled. This drastically reduces construction time and carbon emissions. Compared to conventional roads, plastic roads have a longer lifespan, require less maintenance, and can withstand extreme weather conditions more effectively.

One of the key advantages of plastic roads is their ability to improve drainage. Built with hollow structures, these roads allow rainwater to flow through and be stored or directed efficiently, reducing the risk of flooding. In cities like Zwolle and Giethoorn, pilot projects have shown that plastic roads not only reduce plastic waste but also create safer, more resilient transport networks. It's a step forward in combining innovation with environmental responsibility.

[Working Together for a Sustainable Future]

Together with Ang Mo Kio Town Council and Sengkang Green Primary School, we launched the sustainability themed art works on our Town Council Bins. The paintings were drawn up by our talented students from Sengkang Green Primary School, depicting their hopes and aspirations for a clean and green environment.

The bins will be deployed within our Fernvale estates; hope that they will serve as a good reminder for all to do our part for our environment.

Letโ€™s continue to work together for a clean and green Fernvale!
