As 2025 comes to a close, we have been reflecting on what has been a deeply meaningful year for Ethikom Consultancy.

We have grown alongside our clients, taken on fresh, challenging work across sectors, and continued to deepen our place within the regulatory compliance and FinTech ecosystem.

Just before my trip to Jakarta, I was delighted to receive the plaque for the Consultant of the Year award from Thomson Reuters/Asian Legal Business — a reminder that recognition, while never the goal, affirms the value of the work we believe in.

This photo was taken from the 109th floor of Jakarta’s tallest tower — also the highest in the Southern Hemisphere.

Fitting, perhaps, as we think about perspective — and how every step up gives us a better view of the road ahead.

We’re grateful for the support and trust we’ve received this year.

And we remain committed to pushing further, reaching higher, and serving with purpose in 2026 and beyond.

Enjoyed being on CNA’s Singapore Tonight news segment over the weekend, discussing the regulatory landscape and risks for consumers engaging with cross-border financial services platforms that are not licensed in Singapore.

While such platforms may be easily accessible, consumers should be aware that they are not afforded key regulatory protections. These include business conduct and compliance requirements that licensed entities are subject to—such as fair dealing obligations conflicts of interests and even fundamental protections like the ringfencing of customer assets.

As digital finance becomes increasingly borderless, consumer awareness and regulatory clarity are more important than ever.

🌟 We are particularly passionate about conducting training sessions - where we can impart knowledge, share industry practices, and challenge participants to think critically about pressing issues.

We believe that learning is a two-way street, and we always aim to foster an environment where we can learn from each other's experiences.

We are excited to announce that we will be conducting training for Malaysia's Securities Industry Development Corporation (SIDC) today, which will gather members from both the traditional finance and digital asset communities. We are especially looking forward to the participation of regulators, as their insights are invaluable.

During the training, we will be addressing the themes of Responsibilities of Custodians in the Digital Assets Space, as well as on Governance, Risk Management, and Security in Digital Assets.

Had fun co-presenting with Benjamin Gaw at a seminar hosted by the Regulatory Sub-Committee of the Digital Assets Association , discussing regulatory changes to the licensing process under the Payments Services Act.

We also shared on practical issues and best practices observed during the PSA licensing process.
