Happy hump day! If you’ve been wanting to have a taste of our cheeses, our friends over at is serving Mazaraat cheese artisanal platter for their October specials. On the plate is Halloumi, Saphera (our fav. goat cheese that tastes kind of like Pecorino), Alpine (Gruyere’s sharp sister), & Athan (our take on brillat-savarin). For pairing recs, j ask the staff & they should be able to rec. sake/beer that goes well with the cheese 🍻🍶

We’re so late (like 6 months late) — but hey, better late than never right 😝

Earlier this year, told us to send her a pack of halloumi for a shoot… little did we know it was gonna be such a glamorous shoot/article! But glam all aside, it felt quite surreal to be featured alongside other brands/folks who are doing pretty cool work in the region. If y’all haven’t read the article, do give it a read.

There are lots of food for thoughts. One of the things that
Nithiya pointed out was how plenty of food (like cheese!) are regarded highly cause it comes from faraway places. That sentence seems so simple, but there are so many things to unpack/digest. Have y’all ever thought about why we give those food (or goods) so much more prestige over local cuisine/food? 🤔

The best part about putting together a cheeseboad is experimenting with all the different flavour combo. You can even do this with just one cheese type! Recently we had the most delightful condo of Tomme de Merapi with dried apricot, candied almond, & honey. Serve with cracker and you get yourself the most satisying bite ever 🤤

The rainy days in Singapore get us nostalgic for our own desa (village). This shot is taken about 5 mins away from our production space in Cangkringan, Mount Merapi, Jogjakarta. It feels quite special to be able to wake up to the view of padi fields, warm sun, & the majestic Mount Merapi 🌋 Seeing this view always serves as our reminder that we are simply stewards of the lands. We can never truly ‘own’ a piece of land. We are merely its tenants 🙏🏼

How to store your cheese? There are a few ways to do it — but our favourite is wrapping our cheeses in parchment paper and then storing it in an air tight container or bag. This works for most cheeses — except for fresh cheeses like Burrata & Mozzarella.

A lil extra tip: replace the parchment paper whenever you take out/cut your cheese.

ICYMI — we are taking pre-orders for iniTempe Bali] Tempe Chips! PO close this Thursday, 29th September, 11:59PM.

We’ve tried a lot of tempe chips in the last few months & honestly are super impressed by iniTempe Bali] tempe & cassava chips. Besides making super tasty chips, what we love and appreciate about Benny/iniTempe team is their commitment to creating good products using ingredients from the region. Benny actually sources his non-GMO soybeans directly from the farmers in Bali. So you know that these chips are made with good stuff!

Cheese plates & pairings don’t have to be elaborate. When we’re short on time/too lazy to plate anything but still need to host, we rely on the 111 rule. 1 cheese + 1 palate cleanser + 1 accompaniment/pairing.

A super simple cheese plate we love to do is this Tomme de Merapi with olives/rosemary. The olives are meant as palate cleanser — eat em when you feel like you can’t really taste the cheese nuances anymore. The rosemary, besides making your plate look pretty, is also a fun herb to enjoy with your cheese. Its floral/grassy flavour adds on to Tomme de Merapi’s subtle grassy notes. Serve with a pot of tea or drink of your choice 🫖☕️

With the holiday season coming, we figured it would be fun to do a lil’ something with .sanctuary. We’re doing a super lowkey open house with complimentary cheese tasting this weekend. The idea is for y’all to come, browse the tableware pieces in person (& maybe get some inspo for your holiday tablescapes), & enjoy a mini cheese tasting session. We will have some cheeses on hand for purchase, but you can also DM us to reserve your cheese ahead of time.
