When we set out to do this photoshoot, we initially just wanted to show off some of the nice parts of the new Jewel at Changi airport. Little did we know, COVID19 would strike shortly after, rendering the airport a ghost town.

Chen Ting is fun to hang out with and she also requested for some photos for her professional portfolio.

As with all my collaborations, photoshoots are free and easy and I happily accommodate requests that are not too difficult for me. If you are happy, we are happy.

DM me if you want to try your hand at modelling. I have shot many models with zero modelling experience and I can tell you, willingness to try is all you need.

Model: Chen Ting
Photographer: Michel Lim

Disclaimer: Photos were taken before CB. Any future photoshoots will only take place after the COVID19 situation has abated and restrictions are lifted.

We spent some time exploring Joo Chiat and the areas important to Anna's life, seeing the place through her eyes and in her eyes.

This rustic place we call home, Singapore. Dear and loved and treasured by all.

This shoot explored the idea of vibrant matching colours, lining up dress design to location. It also played with leading lines and architectural and geometric shapes. Look out for the recurring themes of circles and lines.

Chronicling the nuptial journey of my favourite couple. Bestie will be getting married in one week's time.
Can you imagine it, the OG party all getting hitched and doing serious adulting.
Before you know it, we'll all have kids and grey hair.
But before I run away with all the nostalgia, here are photos of their amazing love.

As always, brought to you with love by this passionate photographer.

It took 14 years for Xiao Manda and I to finally go to the beach. We had fun shooting photos for Project Canvas and really just hanging out. It's a friendship spanning half our lifetime that's really just starting to develop.

So Mad agreed to help out as a lowlight model at Jewel. We got there at 6.30am, just in time to catch the blue 5 mins and the yellow 5 mins. I've always found flash photography to be particularly difficult especially when it comes to manifesting a creative art shot from your mind into reality. We persisted but I couldn't help but feel slightly disappointed that I could not get the shot I wanted.
On the other hand, Mad was really fun to shoot with and she was patient with both of our requests. So i really want to thank her for her kindness.

I'll leave you with a quote from Lewis Carroll.

"Have I gone mad? I'm afraid so. You're entirely bonkers. But I'll tell you a secret. All the best people are."

This is a night shoot, which requires very different equipment from what I have. As you may have noticed, I mainly shoot portraits in the day and struggle when it comes to doing night photography. Suffice to say, I hate not knowing how to do things. So it is a continuous effort everyday to learn something new and I will be beginning a series of night portraits in the near future.
In this album, marie interacted with installations made of recycled materials, plastic bottles and sheets, an installation where waste becomes worth and a timely reminder that the Earth is bounded. Flush a bottle away in your room and the bottle goes somewhere else. Gone but not quite gone, eventually it comes back.

I remember doing a series of photoshoots a couple of years back as I went through a photography burn out phase. The fatigue of repetition in my life at that point in time combined with a general meaninglessness in my job led to a difficult time engaging with creative activities. Nevertheless I strove to find colour and paint it in wide swathes into my pictures. The exhaustion in life has finally worn out and I'm feeling wayyy better than I was two years ago. So here is in celebration, a christmas delayed, a desire to find joy and colour in my portraits and given the striking beauty of these photos, I think you'll agree that I found the colour I was looking for.

Here are vibrant colours and beautiful bokeh to celebrate the challenges and varied difficulties that came my way this year.
This year I became a proper school teacher and I managed to make a difference in students lives. They said I was kind and caring. And that is the kind of teacher I hope to be forever.
There were plenty of ups and downs this year and it was really tough emotionally. I got engaged. My sister was hospitalized. Sigh. May next year be better.
