NBAS joins Norwegians at home and around the world in mourning the passing of His Majesty King Harald V.

We remember with deep gratitude his lifetime of service to Norway, and the warmth, dignity and sense of unity that characterised his reign.

He will be remembered as a King who brought people together and created a strong sense of belonging.

Our heartfelt condolences go to Queen Sonja and the entire Royal Family. 🇳🇴

HM King Harald V (1937 - 2026)

It is with deep grief that we announce that His Majesty King Harald has passed away. King Harald died peacefully at Oslo University Hospital Rikshospitalet Friday 28 August at 6:35am.

Press release from the Office of the Prime Minister:

‘It is with great sorrow that I received the news that His Majesty King Harald V has died.

A whole nation is in mourning and the people of Norway are left with a deep sense of gratitude for a long life in the service of Norway.

For more than three decades as monarch, Harald V demonstrated an unwavering faith in the Norwegian people. He helped us to see the best in ourselves – and in one another.

King Harald found the words to bind us together when we needed them the most. He grieved with us after the attacks 22 July 2011. He cheered with us when Norwegian athletes excelled. And he guided us, with warmth, wisdom and openness, towards a society with a place for everyone. King Harald had a profound love for Norway. And Norway had a profound love for King Harald.

My thoughts and deepest sympathy are with the Queen and the entire Royal Family at this difficult time,’ said Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre on learning of the death of King Harald V.

King Harald V was born on 21 February 1937. He died at the age of 89.

The Government will be convening soon for a government conference at the Office of the Prime Minister, and after that an extraordinary meeting of the Council of State will be held at the Royal Palace with the new King.

Delighted to Welcome Our New NBAS Member: C-Loop

NBAS is pleased to welcome C-Loop as the latest addition to our vibrant business community!

C-Loop is a maritime circularity focused company, developing practical solutions for waste streams across the maritime industry. Its current focus is recovering plastics from retired mooring ropes and creating circular pathways for these materials to re-enter productive use.

C-Loop also provides transparent, documented visibility over the end-of-life journey of recovered waste, helping companies demonstrate responsible waste management and reduce reputational risk from improper disposal. C-Loop aims to extend this approach to other maritime waste streams.

“Waste in maritime should no longer be an afterthought and depending on perspective it can be a problem, or it is an untapped resource. For C-Loop it is the latter, which is why we are thrilled to join NBAS, a community that shares our commitment to sustainable industrial innovation.

Circularity requires both global scale and deep local roots. Operating across nine key ports globally via our partner network, C-Loop has local presence and its largest collection hub in Singapore. Our goal is to build the blueprint in Singapore and contribute in our little way in establishing it as the regional powerhouse for maritime circularity.”

— Tore Strand, CEO, C-Loop

We look forward to following C-Loop’s journey as they develop practical circularity solutions and help create new value from maritime waste.

Congratulating TINE on Its 170th Anniversary: 1856–2026

Last week, Sophie Franck, our Executive Director, visited NBAS member TINE's office in Oslo, where she learnt more about the company’s history, products and 170-year anniversary.

TINE’s story began in 1856, when Norwegian farmers came together around a shared purpose: to produce high-quality dairy and support one another through a cooperative built on trust and community. Today, that spirit continues to shape TINE’s approach to dairy craftsmanship, animal welfare, responsible farming and Norwegian food traditions.

During the visit, Sophie also had the opportunity to see TINE’s anniversary display and product showcase, which highlighted the company’s journey from its cooperative roots to one of Norway’s best-known dairy brands.

Warm congratulations to TINE on 170 years! 🎉
