“I have a dream...”

Those powerful words helped start a cultural change in the United States.

Dr Martin Luther King Jr’s words have indeed inspired me to work with progressive leaders to build the right culture for their organizations.

Through my work, I have had the opportunity to partner with other professionals.

What I look out for in my partners are the 3As:

Alignment of values:Our values shape our behaviors, hence an alignment of values means I don’t have to second-guess their behaviors.

Articulation of ideas: I am blessed with the gift and having partners who share that gift will certainly give us the opportunity to work with more clients.

Accountability to each other: As partners, it is extremely crucial to hold each other accountable. Even more so, it is to be accountable to clients in co-creating positive and sustainable work cultures.

Identifying the right partners will get you further along in your business.

What criteria do you use when searching for partners?

“How is it different consulting for local companies vs overseas corporations?”

Having consulted for organizations in different parts of the world, there is a common recurring theme.

Almost every single organization I’ve consulted for tells me that managing and developing people is their #1 concern.

If you think about it, it makes sense.

From an accounting perspective, labor is usually one of their highest investment.

From a customer perspective, your people sometimes make all the difference between you and your competitor.

From a culture perspective, your people is what makes your company unique.

If you have the same concern, then here’s two things you can do:

Short Term: Town Hall meetings are good for addressing concerns and gathering feedback from the ground.

Mid Term: Formulate a culture blueprint for people development and aligning it to organizational goals.

Long Term: Develop an overall strategic plan for the organization with an intentional focus on different perspectives.

What’s m your single greatest challenge in developing your people?

Building Blocks for Innovating Culture of Growth

From New York 🗽to Singapore 🇸🇬

I was asked:

“What does business culture have to do with digital transformation?”

Yesterday, I shared with business leaders the link between business culture and digital transformation.

With digital not only as a tool or infrastructure; but it being an enabler can help your business grow exponentially.

However, business growth without the right culture can be disastrous.

In our work with multinational corporations both locally and overseas, there are 5 building blocks for innovating culture of growth.

- Curiosity to learn

- Growth mindset to receive and give feedback

- Grit to persevere

- Psychological safety to share

- Happiness Advantage for people to thrive:

Which of these 5 building blocks have you not implemented in your organization?

Connect with me and let’s have a chat to see how you can incorporate these into your programs, practices, and policies.

When I arrived in New York on Monday, I knew two things:

1⃣ I am thankful for being amongst some of the best women entrepreneurs from around the world.

2⃣ I am thankful for embarking on the journey of lifelong learning.

In the span of 3 years, I have been recognized 3 times.

- Best Personal Brand Award
- SkillsFuture Fellowships Award
- Stevie Awards for Women in Business

With each award, I always remind myself this: it isn’t about what I’ve achieved; but how I can inspire others to achieve.

You can get started by being recognized by your peers.

Then work your way up to being recognized nationally.

And then being recognized internationally.

But remember, with greater recognition comes greater responsibility.

So go make a positive impact, dream big, and fly high!

🎉 I am totally excited to be the Bronze Stevie Award winner in the Female Solo Entrepreneur of the Year category.

🙏 I would like to thank my loved ones, mentors, clients and strategic partners for being a part of this awesome journey!

🇸🇬 Delighted to be able to mention about beautiful in my acceptance speech. Look forward to journeying with even more SG companies too. Enterprise Singapore

I was excited.

Hearing Ford’s Futurist share about the coming trends that will revolutionize my business.

As I listened to Sheryl Connelly
shared her five tips, I singled out the one that matters more than the others:

😨 You can’t be afraid of the future.

We can be afraid of the future as we have little control over many factors that might affect our business.

To expand on Sheryl’s point, we do have control over one key factor in our business: culture.

The right culture can help your employees be productive, your managers effective, and your leaders progressive.

The right culture can help your prospects find your solutions, your customers find greater value of your solutions, and earn you supernormal profit.

Here’s the best part.

We can indeed predict the future, by creating the right culture for our business.

🤔 Question: would you like to know the other four tips?

I did not become a customer.

I became a fan. 🤩

Sales people can learn a thing or two from her.

She showed me the products in the store at Bynd Artisan.

She shared with me some recommended options.

When I mentioned I’d like to take photo of her for my post, she asked:

“Is the company’s logo visible? Because that would help to publicize the company.”

Grace isn’t the owner.

She isn’t just a sales person.

She is an ambassador.

Her enthusiasm and pride in her work certainly contributes to a progress business culture.

Crisis into opportunities.

All 3 of us has a different story.

A story of how we overcame our circumstances.

Whilst pursuing our dreams.

Rohaishah shared how she went from being homeless to becoming an inspiring art teacher.

Kit Ow shared how despite having a full-time corporate life, she still managed to publish a book about Singapore's Oldest Family-Run Restaurants.

As for me, it was how I ignore the naysayers and went ahead to launch my business and my book.

Though we all have different stories, one thread remains the same:

Our ability to overcome our circumstances to achieve our dreams involves a mindset shift.

☀️ How have your story changed because of a shift in your mindset?

Want to assemble a dream team?

This isn’t a HR post.

It’s about how your business can attract the best possible team by designing the desired culture.

First, what’s a work culture?

Define: Work culture refers to the beliefs, thought processes, attitudes of the employees, ideologies, and principles of the organisation.

Who sets the work culture?

Fact: For most of my clients, it’s the management that sets the tone for the culture.

How has it changed over the years?

⬅ Past: Good employees stay on in spite of culture, for the sake of their livelihood.

🕰 Now: If a company does not keep up with the increasingly loud call for a positive work culture, then attracting the dream team would be difficult.

🌟 Remember “A positive work culture will lead to significant benefits for employers, employees, customers, as well as your bottom line.”
