Woodfibre LNG is proud to be recognised as one of Environment Journal's Top 25 Remediation Projects, a milestone that reflects years of careful planning, community collaboration, and environmental responsibility.

At the former site of the Woodfibre pulp mill, remediation efforts have focused on addressing the impact of nearly 100 years of industrial activity while preparing the site for a new generation of responsible energy development. The scale of this work reflects that commitment:

🍂 $50 million invested in site cleanup
🗑️ 170,000 tonnes of historically contaminated soil removed
🚚 More than 4,000 creosote piles safely extracted

Located near Squamish on the traditional territory of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation), this work has been carried out in partnership with Squamish Nation, who serve as both partner and environmental regulator on the project, strengthening accountability and ensuring environmental standards are embedded throughout ex*****on.

This milestone underscores RGE’s focus on delivering measurable environmental outcomes at scale, while working collaboratively with partners to restore and responsibly redevelop industrial sites.

It also highlights strong sustainability practices, including transparent reporting, effective management of environmental violations, and proactive risk mitigation, further reinforcing Bracell’s standing as a benchmark for integrity in Brazilian agribusiness.

Colleagues and partners from across RGE business groups spent time at Singapore Cheshire Home for our 𝐆𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐧 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 volunteering event earlier this year. The programme brought together employees who spent their working hours with residents, celebrating tradition and sharing meaningful moments.

Moments like these remind us that businesses exist within communities. We conduct our businesses under our founder’s 5Cs philosophy: to do good for the community, country, climate and customers, and only then will it be good for the company. It is a principle that guides not only how we operate our businesses, but also how we give back.

Golden Hearts is one of four quarterly volunteer initiatives planned for 2026. Each gathering is a chance for our colleagues to step outside the workplace and contribute directly to the wellbeing of the communities around us.

Forests and freshwater aren’t backdrops to industry - they’re the foundation. Huang Wenbin (Ben), Senior Sustainability Manager at Sateri, shares how China’s biggest freshwater lake, Poyang Lake, is treated as part of Sateri’s operating environment, and not as a separate CSR project.
