“T𝙝𝙖𝙩'𝙨 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙢𝙮 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮.”

How many times have you heard that?

But personality isn't necessarily a life sentence.

Research shows that personality has both stability AND potential for change across the lifespan.

So understanding your character shouldn't mean:

❌ “T𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘐 𝘢𝘮. 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯'𝘵 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦.”

It can mean:

✅ “N𝘰𝘸 𝘐 𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯. 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘐 𝘥𝘰 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘪𝘵?”

Self-knowledge should be a starting point—not an excuse.

That's one reason understanding your character matters.

“I handle pressure well.”
“I'm a good listener.”
“I'm not an emotional person.”

But what we believe about ourselves isn't always identical to our actual behavior.
Research has shown that self-knowledge can be surprisingly complicated.

That's why self-awareness isn't simply asking:
“W𝘩𝘰 𝘢𝘮 𝘐?”

It is also asking:
“W𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘰 𝘐 𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥𝘭𝘺 𝘥𝘰?”

Your patterns can reveal things your self-image doesn't.

And that is where meaningful self-understanding begins.

𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺:

A first impression is an observation—not a complete understanding of a person.
Research on “thin slices” of behavior shows that brief observations can contain useful information, but they don't tell the entire story.

At UCMHP Academy, we encourage a deeper approach:

Don't just ask,

“W𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘰 𝘐 𝘴𝘦𝘦?”

Ask:

“W𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯 𝘢𝘮 𝘐 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨?”

Because people are more complex than first impressions.

What if the people closest to you sometimes understand you better than you understand yourself?

A 2008 study found that close others could be as accurate as people themselves when predicting everyday behavior.

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝘁.

Sometimes, someone else notices a pattern you yourself have never noticed.

“You always do that when you're stressed.”
“You become quiet when you're uncomfortable.”
“That's actually one of your strengths.”

𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻.

Sometimes, it starts by listening to what others see in you.

That is why understanding your character can be a powerful tool for personal growth.

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝗟𝗶𝗮𝗿? 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗔𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻.

In 2003, researchers examined 158 different cues people associate with lying.

The surprising finding?

There is no single behavior that reliably tells you someone is lying.

Not eye contact.
Not crossed arms.
Not nervousness.

𝙊𝙣𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙤𝙧 ≠ 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙤𝙡𝙚 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣.

Therefore, to accurately understand human behavior requires looking at patterns, not jumping to conclusions.

At UCMHP Academy, we always remind our learners to look deeper into character and behavioral patterns—not simply judge someone based on what they see.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗗𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝘆?

The ideas behind basic harmonisation overlap with several practices that have been explored in psychological and wellbeing research.

For example, research has examined the benefits of mindfulness and present-moment awareness for managing stress and supporting emotional wellbeing. Reflective and expressive writing has also been studied for its potential role in processing experiences and supporting wellbeing, although results can vary between individuals and different approaches.

Similarly, research on intentions and goal-setting suggests that forming specific plans can help people translate their intentions into action.

These findings do not mean that “basic harmonisation” itself has been scientifically proven as a single intervention. Rather, they show that some of the individual principles it draws upon—such as awareness, reflection, intentionality and self-regulation—have been studied within established areas of psychological research.

The purpose is therefore not to make medical or therapeutic claims, but to encourage people to understand themselves more clearly and develop more intentional ways of responding to everyday experiences.

DID YOU KNOW?

The human body is constantly interacting with its surroundings.

The sunlight we receive.

The temperature around us.

The air we breathe.

Even naturally occurring energy in our environment.

Two elements that have attracted interest in wellness research are Negative Ions and Far Infrared Rays (FIR).

- Negative Ions occur naturally in places such as waterfalls, beaches and forests.
- Far Infrared Rays are part of the infrared spectrum and are experienced naturally as warmth.

These natural elements have inspired different wellness technologies, including the MultiVerse Resonance™ (MvR) Life Code Card, which incorporates both through its bio nano-composite ceramic powder technology.

Understanding the “why” behind wellness can help us make more informed choices.

🎁 A little something for your wellness journey

As part of our Singapore National Day Special, the MvR Life Code Card is available at SG$61 per card
