Event AV for a conference earlier this year, run from a single stretch of desks.

Our crew worked that row side by side with everyone else keeping the show on track. Sound, lighting and stage technology all came together in one place, right in the room.

When the programme moved, we moved with it. That’s the part of event production we enjoy most.

The brief came down to two things: every officer in the hall had to hear the programme, and every officer had to see it.

Universal AV took on both. Our team built the LED wall on the main stage and set up the audio system. Both were tested and running hours before the first guest arrived.

The SAF ran the room. We ran the AV.

Every venue comes with its own set of rules.

In a hotel ballroom, that usually means flying line arrays at exact angles to clear chandeliers and deliver even audio across fifty banquet tables. In a glass pavilion, the priority flips: keep the rigging compact and ground-supported so the structure doesn't compete with the view outside.

You choose a venue for its atmosphere. The technical production should fit that space naturally, not overpower it. When stage dimensions, speaker trim heights, and truss placement are calculated around the room's architecture, your guests notice the presentation, not the hardware.

From the archives.

When a ballroom fills with hundreds of guests, the technical crew is usually out of sight. That’s the point.

Behind the scenes, UAV brings together the audio, visuals, lighting and technical setup that keep corporate events running smoothly. From large-format LED displays to complete ballroom production, every element has to work together when the programme begins.

We handle the technical production so organisers can stay focused on their event and their guests.

Same stage, three colours.

Our crew ran sound, lighting and video from the side of the room, with the stage in clear view. Green, cyan and pink along the stage edge, a skyline at dusk across the LED wall, moving lights throwing patterns over the ceiling. Notepads on the tables, nobody at them yet.

Where do the screens go, and how big should they be?

That's the first question UAV asks for every stage. A screen sized for the front row leaves the back tables squinting. One screen in a wide room leaves half the audience reading slides at an angle.

These four setups each answer it differently, from an exhibition hall needing a long wall that holds its scale from across the floor to a ballroom dinner using side screens to bring the stage closer to the far tables.

UAV was the sound, backline and lighting tech provider for the JASS Benefit Gala 2026 at the Island Ballroom, Shangri-La Singapore.

The evening marked ten years of the Jazz Association (Singapore), with a combined orchestra, featured vocalists and a full dinner in the room. Our job was to get the sound and lighting systems in, tested and ready before the first guest walked in.

Here's to a decade of music.

The real show starts hours before the doors open. Screens routed. Cue lists verified. Zero guesswork. When a keynote looks effortless from the audience seats, this is why. Control view from our latest conference run in Singapore.

Systems checked. Cues set. Crew in position. Lighting dialled in.

A look behind the scenes at the technical work that happens before the first guest takes a seat and the show goes live. This is the part the audience isn’t supposed to notice. That’s the point.

A conference room looks very different before the first guest takes their seat.

For this recent Singapore event, the setup extended across the main presentation space, room-wide visuals, lighting and the technical position running behind the scenes.

What guests eventually see is the finished room. Behind it are the screens, control systems, equipment and crew that have to come together before the programme can begin.

Here’s a look at both sides of the setup, from the audience view to show control.
