Day 11.. Dry sand down levelling the body …followed by wet sanding and then one final spray coat .. Japanese imported Matt finish that is robust yet very thin . You can see the golden hue on the wood that is just natural .

We took the neck out .. levelled the neck to ensure that its bottle straight and radius it to 14 inches .

Prep the frets and pumped it in using a special dense ebony fret knocker made by Jeff for me ( i get to keep that fret knocker tool) Levelled the frets after fitting the frets plus we polished it up.

The bridged is glued in so we leave it overnight and tomorrow we will joined them together and fit the strings in . I am so
excited about this lovely guitar .Jeffrey Yong you are just a genius and thanks for sharing your wisdom and secrets that are so valuable for both Danny and me .

My buddy Danny working on his monkeypod OM with the same identical wood from the same tree as mine but loaded with abalone purflings on the body and headstock with the red pulling boarders . Jeffrey Yong giving pointers to Danny who is by the way 73 years young .. full of energy .

Day 6 .. progressing pretty fast .. these parts takes a bit more time .. Thinking whether to do my JW logo or just a simple inlay ..the 7 piece neck is a stunner with flame but also it adds so much stiffness to it .

Day 5 ... “ The Guitar Making Experience” with Master Luthier Jeffrey Yong … lots of detailed work involved for today

Worked on getting the Ebony binding glued onto the body on the backs and top perimeter of the guitar is not an easy task.

You have to ensure that it’s sticks to the side and also sits flat on the channels . This is my first time working on wood binding and purflings so it was a great challenge for me as i wanted to ensure it was perfect. Jeff was there to guide and also showed me the technique by first starting on how to glue in correctly with the tools he had . This was an eye opening experience as all the videos i watched were using tapes or rubber bands. Jeff’s technique are unconventional methods that were quick yet reliable.

We work on the neck and this time using a 7 piece layered neck which is pretty robust .

It’s all boxed up .. Jeff used a special technique to show me how responsive this top was in several areas of the top of this guitar . That alone just blew my mind.

Tomorrow is saturday but we are going in to work on the neck .. probably route the neck joint channel plus do some spraying first few coats of the body and work on the sound ports
