🗻Mount Fuji: A natural wonder that became the symbol of Japan
🗻Mount Fuji, or Fujisan as it is called in Japanese, is the highest summit in Japan at a 3,776 metre altitude. It is located on the island of Honshu, near Tokyo, Yokohama and the prefecture of Shizuoka. Its perfectly conical form makes for an impressive spectacle, whether it is covered in snow in winter, or surrounded by cherry blossoms in springtime.
In 2013, Mount Fuji became listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognised for its exceptional natural history, its cultural importance and its prominent place in Japanese spirituality. This designation reinforces the protection and significance of the mountain and its surrounding areas.For the Japanese, 🇯🇵 Mount Fuji symbolises purity, perseverance and eternity. Its steep slopes and snowy peaks inspire respect and contemplation. In Japanese culture, the mountain is often associated with meditation and the search for spiritual enlightenment.
