While Singapore's tax regime supports legitimate tax planning, businesses should be mindful of the boundaries set by 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟯𝟯 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝘅 𝗔𝗰𝘁 𝟭𝟵𝟰𝟳, Singapore's General Anti-Avoidance Rule (GAAR).

Section 33 empowers the Comptroller of Income Tax to disregard or vary arrangements that are considered to have the purpose or effect of avoiding tax, while distinguishing them from genuine commercial transactions supported by bona fide business reasons.

RSM Singapore recently hosted a learning journey for 20 Undergraduate and Master's students from the MBA programme at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST) Business School, organised in collaboration with the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM).

During the visit, students gained insights into RSM Singapore's business, growth journey and role in supporting companies expanding across Singapore and the ASEAN region. The session also explored entrepreneurship, emerging business opportunities and the practical realities of operating in today's evolving business landscape.
