One of the questions we often get is:
Are metal spoons safe for scooping honey? 🥄🍯
It’s commonly said that metal spoons can “damage” honey, but what matters more is the condition of the spoon.
If you are using a metal spoon, make sure it is completely dry and rust-free, as moisture may encourage fermentation and affect the honey over time.
In general, stainless steel and aluminium are commonly used with honey. However, prolonged contact with more reactive metals like iron or copper is best avoided.
Fun fact!
Honey is typically transported from beehives to facilities in food-grade metal drums. Using materials like wood for this process isn’t practical for large-scale handling.
✨ Tip: A clean, dry spoon, whether metal or wood, is a simple way to enjoy your honey.
