WHAT IS PU-ERH TEA?

Known as Camellia sinensis, this is the original tea plant species that grows along the border area of modern day China, Burma and India. This particular plant species is the original source in which all varieties of tea producing plants originated from. Which includes the Pu Erh Tea we have widely seen today.

Journeying back into 1,400 years ago, tea was often exported from Southwestern China to Tibet in exchange of horses. For convenience, loose tea leaves were often strapped in a large bundle to pack animals and travelled through the Himalayas on a journey that lasted more than a year. Over time, traders began to realised that if the tea was compressed, more tea can be transported in one single journey. People also realised that the new compressed tea tasted better than the earlier batch of loose leaf variety.

Pu Erh Tea productions are grown along the Lancang River on tea estates in Yunnan Province, which some of these tea estates dating back to ancient dynasties, being abandoned and brought back subsequently into production over the centuries. Highly regulated by the government, only the teas that followed the stringent regulations are permited to be called a Pu Erh Tea.

The tea leaves from Pu Erh Tea comes from trees and bushes that grows along the mountainsides and from cultivated plants, which some trees are thought to be almost 2,700 years old. Each tea estates produces its own unique tea flavours, and is due to the different plants, soil and climate conditions.

Today, Pu Erh Tea is enjoy by all, including the young and old.

什么是普洱茶？

被称为茶树（Camellia sinensis），这是沿着现代中国，缅甸和印度边境地区生长的原始茶树种。这种特殊的植物物种是所有茶叶生产植物的原始来源。其中包括我们今天广泛看到的普洱茶。

回到大约1400年前，茶叶经常从中国西南出口到西藏，以换取马匹。为了方便起见，松散的茶叶经常捆绑在动物群们，并在历时一年多的旅程中穿越喜马拉雅山脉。随着时间的流逝，贸易商开始意识到如果茶被压缩，可以在一次旅行中运输更多的茶。人们也意识到新压缩茶的味道比早期的松叶品种要好。

普洱茶产自沿澜沧江在云南省的茶园种植，其中一些茶园可追溯到古代王朝，几个世纪以来被遗弃并带回生产。深受政府严格监管，只有遵守严格规定的茶才被称为普洱茶。

普洱茶的茶叶来自沿着山腰或栽培植物生长的树木和灌木丛，有些树木已有超过2700年的历史。每个茶园都有自己独特的茶味，这是由于每个山腰都有着不同的植物，土壤和气候条件。

今天，普洱茶是所有人都喜欢的，老少皆宜。
