Burger King’s “Burn That Ad”
The fast food chain has its own humorous way of gaining ground on its competitors. In 2019, Burger King in Brazil launched a mobile app that encourages people to ‘burn’ its rivals’ ads - in augmented reality – and turn them into a BK ad!
Once the rival’s ad is completely burnt, the consumer is left with a screen that tells them they’ve received a free Whopper to be claimed at the nearest restaurant. An advertising win that creates an interactive interface between the brand and its customers -- clever indeed!
